Weird. Does it normally take board partners this long to get cards out? Is AMD trying to suck up the initial round of buyers by only offering their OEM model?

 

AIBs will be in 1 week of Aug, Asus is always late to the party with AMD, they are ou tof my list for some time now. Gpus are not that great, Boards on the other hand they are the gods.

 

Anyhow I am just trying to point out my observation with my new 5700 XT. I went with PowerColor as they seem to get some of the best gpu chips IMO. I have done some amazing things with my powercolor gpus over the years.

Kids today lesson is undervolting and overclocking on the 5700 XT is on the menu.

My stock voltage is 1195 ....well I undervolted to 1165 lowest stable for my overclock of the core and vram. 2150/905

It dropped the temps quite a bit. 0% power limit. On average now I do not even hit 65 degrees under heavy load on the core. Currently as I have mentioned though my VRAM and VRMs need something to help with cooling as they are getting hot...especially the VRAM it is nearing the limits. Oh my core temps used to be at 85 degrees until the undervolt.

Also just like vega when overclocking the vram it still has that issue of putting whatever you set the overclock too as +1 so for me to achieve 905 on my vram I have to set it at 904. By the way until we can get vram voltage control we are pretty much screwed as the stock voltage is so low 905 is the highest I can get to stable.

 

It makes you wonder why AMD didn't release a "2GHz edition" card - I wonder if this is because of a larger navi chip and/or 57x0 refresh coming later? Exciting times ahead though, so far all the reports on Navi are just showing positively glowing results! Glad to see you're enjoying your card!

 

They might be planning it who knows...one thing that bugs me though is no bios switch...it seems to be a step backwards. I can hit 2100 with the core set to 2200 in bvenchmarks and games though this is with the stock high voltage.

At 2150 I will hit between 2050 and 2090 on the core.

I'm wondering, other then Accelero's, aren't there any other makers? I don't really wanna go the water loop route.
I've never done it before, and probably won't as easy as it might be for others i just don't feel comfortable doing it myself.

Ok damn, EK is 150 euro... not worth it for me, this is the waterblock alone and i need other stuff too.

 

Yep... WC stuff is expensive, every time i think about going with a custom loop prices makes me wonder if its worth it and i stick to the glorious Noctua coolers. Every.Single.Time.

 

PSA anything that will fit these models should fit the 5700. 290, 290X 390, 390x, 480 and 580. They all share the same spacing.

 

Anyone has issue with GPUZ? Clocks current and default at zero with my 5700XT

 

That's for waterblocks? what about an AiB heatsink if i'm able to find one, would that fit as well?

 

They all have the same spacing for the screws...people have reported AIB fitting perfectly...but I have to say ymmv since I cannot test most. I know a old CPU waterblock I have fit my 290x, 480 and 580 with just bolt on.

 

Wizzrd the guy who maintains it, is having an issue with the sensor that reports it so for now he has zeroed it out.

 

HWInfo has worked for me if you want to try that for testing and monitoring your 5700 XT.

It's again HD4xxx/HD5xxx era
Small chip 250mm2 that takes fight to the nV mamoth 540mm2+ chips.

Now we need larger die and ATI can take leadership in High End.

Soon we will have it priced as it should, up to 299€
Then it will be no brainer for majority of gamers.
