I sometimes imagine what PC I could have if I wasn't buying/maintaining the entire family's crap too. Between myself, my fiance, our kids, my mother and a grandchild, I'm trying to keep 8 computers modern, and 6 of them are still decent gaming rigs. At least nothing goes to waste but I never get to recoup any of the money on older parts I don't use. By then, they are pretty much obsolete or dead. [/whining rant]
I'll be picking up a 3900X today, and have already received two pairs of XPG DDR4 3200 D60G RAM, a 256GB Sabrent Rocket NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD for OS, a 2TB Samsung 860 QVO SSD.....thus far. I will reuse some parts from my other rigs: 2x Gigabyte RX Vega64 Gaming OC Enermax Max Revo 1500W I can't build this 3900X rig till I get back home in early August. As for mobo, I am comtemplating Gigabyte Aorus Extreme or the Asus Crosshair VIII Formula....I might go for a mid range X570 mobo though. Any recommendations?
Asrock X570 Pro4 ?? Could be the answer ?? Searching still for an in-depth analysis of this particular motherboard. For the price, has almost all feature needed
what motherboard are you using? if it doesn't have a 1.0.0.3 based bios yet, don't bother till there is.
In my previous posts, I had mentioned that I haven't yet decided on a mobo yet, since I'm looking at the Asus Crosshair VIII Formula, Gigabyte Aorus Xtreme and the MSI X570 Godlike, or even some mid high end X570 mobos if I decide to save a lil....maybe not the Godlike, it's way overpriced in my neck of the woods, way more than the Asus C8F and Aorus Xtreme.
Does it count that I've received the PSU ? Because it's the only thing I've ordered. Meanwhile, reading reviews
Guys, I think I'll wait a few weeks, a couple of months. All this AGESA version madness, high idle voltages and overall hubbub with Rysen 3xxx launch makes me uneasy. I like my hardware uncomplicated, you know? Meanwhile, I am hunting some B- Die DRAM4 and a good price for the Fractal Design Meshify C computer case.
Anyone looking at building a mATX system? What mobo would you choose for a 3700x? I am leaning towards the MSI B450M Mortar Titanium (decent VRM), but seeing issues in the MSI forum with the bios flashback not working correctly and POST issues plus the limited 32MB BIOS ROM is making me look at Intel. There's also the Asrock B450m Steel legend (decent VRM) but that doesn't support flashing BIOS without CPU. Getting a temporary CPU from AMD is too much of a hassle for me.
have u guys had a change of heart? since the reviews for ryzen 9 3900x n 7 3700x came out? would you still be going for amd or stick with intel?
I have a mini ITX system for a file/Plex server without a dedicated graphic cards and it's perfect but with a dedicated card and the restricted airflow, it is not ideal for me. And a mini ITX motherboard in a mATX case looks just sad and wrong. mATX is the perfect size, not unnecessary big and not too small. Middle of the road. But unfortunately I guess the market is small, so the motherboard vendors and case manufacturers are abandoning it. Makes sense for them to neglect the segment if there's no demand for it.
