Anyway, I'll take the faster real-world processor with mitigations against so called vulnerabilities that have yet to be exploited.

 

To be competitive agains AMD, they needed to drop prices by 25%. Old technology, higher power consumption.

 

Sry, that ain't enough, at same price of 3960X +CPU Cooler- we can build complete system based on Ryzen 9 3950X including RTX 2080/Radeon VII!

Also, if they raised them because of increased demand, how come they are worried about AMD taking their share (which is so huge that they had to raise prices). It's either one or the other, it can't be both (personally, I didn't believe them for a second last year when they raised prices).

 

Its obvious AMD in the driving seat. Intel are dropping the price to try limit the damage that's coming to Intel sales. As far as power goes, Intel power is great at factory clocks but who buys a 9700k or 9900k then doesn't tweak it a bit, which throws the power stats out from what it says on the box. As far as dropping the price, why should they? They have put a lot into getting there product to this point and they are giving us a CPU that looks to equal at least or better intel. I'll wait for reviews on the finer details

Disingenuous how? Your priorities and preferences aren't everyone's; even Intel knows this: hence them realizing they need to lower their prices.

I still don't understand why people say "vulnerabilities that have yet to be exploited" as a reason to disable the mitigations. For some people, sure, I could see how disabling the mitigations is well worth it for the extra performance and I don't have any problem with that, but to dismiss the risk is just plain irresponsible and negligent. Most internet-bound x86 CPUs have been mitigated shortly after the vulnerabilities were discovered, so, how exactly were they supposed to be exploited? Why would Intel deliberately shoot themselves in the foot if they didn't think these vulnerabilities weren't actually a threat? How exactly are you supposed to know they've been exploited when the entire reason they're scary is the fact they can't be detected?

 

Actually he believes intel is still no.1 after the mitigation.
Didn't intel do a EULA move were they didn't allow benchmarks comparisons vs mitigations ? And instead released home brew benchmarks?
