Always liked the lighting in that game. Best PC AVP ever.

What I've also enjoyed a lot about AvP was that you can pop the separate audio CD into a CD player...

@jbscotchman What modification are you using? I'm a huge Aliens universe fan and would love to try this out.. I don't really see too much ray tracing in the video that stands out (very dark compared to what I remember I suppose), but it made me want to replay it either way. AVP2000 is an absolute classic to me. I tried searching around for ray tracing for this game and only saw some reshade filters that may work (https://www.pcgamer.com/this-experimental-hack-adds-ray-tracing-to-any-game-including-crysis/)

  7. I'd like to see Alien:Isolation with proper RTGI. Unfortunately it requires access to sources to add proper Ray Tracing support. Most of these videos are just fake.

btw. there is already mod with awesome TAA post-process for Alien Isolation if anyone is interested, it makes a lot of difference.

Ok I can't lie anymore. There is no ray tracing or mods, this is how the game actually looks. I just posted this as a joke to show how Quake 2 RTX is pathetic. The flare lighting in this 20yr old game is better than Quake 2's RTX crap, and runs at like 200fps.

Myself and a good friend Sadogoat/Eldritch/Cammorgan etc etc ewtc go back as far as can be gone back with AVP. 1st we played the Jaguar AVP release. Then we hung at Arkanas…. THE 1st AVP forums..... where we dreamed up all kinds of shiz for Rebellions 1st AVP PC release. Sado modded in real vid from the movie ALIENS, that played on the base PCs. Another Japanese modder modded in hi res Predator 1 skins for the playable Predator. It was beautiful. We even got to debate stuff with David Stalker, the Producer. Gods those were good times. We even had a guy mod the game so we could play co op. I think it came out in 1998 or 99.... eh? And some of us are still hanging, waiting for a true Next Gen successor to Rebellions AVP 1999. ;p I`d love to see iD take a swing at it. They do AVP justice!

Ah, AVP on the Jaguar. Terrible game, but at the time it looked amazing.

A Raytracing mod for this game would be great, probably a better fit than Quaker, just a lower profile title though.

Heh.... we should live so long. I`d just be happy with a true Next gen AVP though.

Did you play AvP 2010? It was an early DX11 adopter and still holds up well.

Tbth I hate pretty much everything Monolith does. Especially their art style. 2010s AVP art character design reminded me so much of NOLF. Same character design as in Tron. The list goes on. I wish Monolith would have stayed far away from the Aliens Franchise. yuck Nope. We have yet to see a true Next Gen successor to AVP 1999. Only iD can do it justice. Imagine DOOM 3 or DOOM 2016...… but with ALIENS skins.

    Too each their own...
But Monolith had absolutely nothing to do with the 2010 AvP. That was made by Rebellion, the same guys that made the first AvP, and the Jaguar one as well.

And personally, Monolith's AvP 2 was fantastic.
As have been most of their games, from Blood, NOLF 1 and 2, TRON 2.0 through to FEAR and Condemned.
