So following all the Ryzen 16-core and NAVI news, one more update has to be made as AMD also announced two new APUs. Well, new, they are not using Zen2 architecture but rather use optimized 12nm versi... AMD introduces Ryzen 3000 series APUs for desktops
That's a bit disappointing. I was really hoping to see a larger L3 "gaming" cache and the improved memory controller, both of which the APUs desperately need. Basically just seems to be a refresh of last-gen.
It's zen+, so it's exactly that: a refresh. That 3200 apu looks insanely good value for a HTPC... Slap that on a cheap b450 board and some 8gb of ram and you have a PS4-like machine with all of the additional benefits that a PC has, and much better CPU, for about the same price or even less.
No hex core, no much beefier GPU, boring.. good for mothers machines used by nephews when they visit.
No real reason to upgrade my 2200G. IF the 3200G would have Navi iGPU, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
