Yeah, that's always been the "story". I sometimes mess with that setting a lot and most of the time, for directX things, it makes no difference. There was an exception to that though, on MS Flight Simulator X (running in directX9), turning it ON gave a solid 5-8 fps boost. Tested ON and OFF many times due to me thinking it was weird that it worked.

But that was a LONG time ago, on an old 560ti, and i think it was Windows XP or 7 at the time.

The setting must be read by the driver before the driver can apply it.
Let's try to find this setting in the driver.

We all know that anisotropic filtering work for DirectX and for OpenGL.
And this setting can be read by the following drivers:
    nvd3dum.dll - DX9 32-bit driver
    nvd3dumx.dll - DX9 64-bit driver
    nvwgf2um.dll - DX10+ 32-bit driver
    nvwgf2umx.dll - DX10+ 64-bit driver
    nvoglv32.dll - OpenGL 32-bit driver
    nvoglv64.dll - OpenGL 64-bit driver

We all know that MFAA work only for DX10+ applications
    [IMG]
And this setting can be read by following drivers:
    nvwgf2um.dll - DX10+ 32-bit driver
    nvwgf2umx.dll - DX10+ 64-bit driver

Now it's time to check "Threaded optimization"
There is no any DirectX driver here, OpenGL only:
    nvoglv32.dll - OpenGL 32-bit driver
    nvoglv64.dll - OpenGL 64-bit driver

First one has been there since a longer time. You might need to update your profile inspector to give it a name.
Have never seen the second one though.

This driver appears to be the Standard type driver, is there a DCH version?

The Nvidia Control Panel Responsiveness is really fast When scanning for games, apps in 3d program settings.
I have installed these drivers since posted and haven't noticed any issues so far, am on Windows 10 Build 1903.

Can anyone confirm that the VRR feature added to Windows 10 v1903's Settings > Graphics settings as reported on this site today (https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/m...refresh-rate-for-games-that-lack-support.html) is enabled with this driver? Thanks.

I would test it myself but I reverted back from this to v430.97 for the Forza tunnel crash fix so don't want to reinstall it if this is no benefit to doing it.

Using them in Windows 1709 and so far so good.

Also is the first driver I see a good performance of Physx in Borderlands TPS. All previous drivers had huge FPS drops with Physx in medium, with this ones I'm able to run it at HIgh again with very constant performance overall. Like i'm playing in my old system with Windows 7 when the game was launched.

Really liking this driver, havent had a division 2 crash at all, it starts to look like it wants to crash and it recovers. I think there finally working on the problem. Also AC odyssey runs great. Much better branch then the last one so far.

Using driver with 1903 18908.1000 absolutely destroyed the stability and bench scores on my pc. I'm guessing it has something to do with this https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/wi...on-to-the-directed-power-management-framework . I'm going to have to roll back, I'm getting 49-50fps with strobe stuttering when I was getting 180+ stable before on most games. Bench literally gets worse every time I use it....:( RIP my old bench score with 155%[IMG]

I could easily live with stuff like this being default on, but turned off with some tweak, but this does not read like there's much you can do. Probably doesn't even let itself be avoided with max performance power plan etc.
And your line does apply to many, many situations :D

Doesn't seem to be active on 430.97. Just finished testing with only a tiny OC.

Hope that helps anyone else who had the misfortune of downloading 435.27 :)
