LG announces start of sales 8K Oled TV

Maaaaaan that picture of that television in front of that big ass window looks simply amazing.

Such an epic backdrop/scenery to wake up to every day... Just love it!.!

with the amount of money needed to have whats seen in the pic, i would still put the tv in a "movie"/seperate room and enjoy the view (out the window) by itself.
only a moron would put the tv in front of the window to block it (even if only partially).

and unless your content creator or need to sit 6ft away from a 200 in screen, 16K wont do anything.
at 8K even a 88 in screen will have more ppi than a 24@FHD or a 49@4K.

 

I have to sit about 1 meter from my 55B7 to see all the detail of 4k, 8k is just nonsense.

I'd rather see 4k content with full res chroma.

 

I'm still pissed that I didn't have $500k when this was available to buy.

4096x2160P (which is the REAL 4K resolution), 152 inches and 3,700 watts to power!

Just, staggeringly awesome television. Ever since I saw that, all other televisions are just too small...

 

Theres a point where doorways become the limit.

 

I got 10 foot windows in my duplex...just have to knock one of them out and shut the road down for a few hours

I can relate... tomorrow they're going to pick up my LG TV I just bought last week because it's faulty by default...

 

Ill get a 4k tv when my cable company gives me 4k.What the hell do i need 8k for?I just got 1080p a few months ago.I was only getting 720p the last 20 years.

 

"2K (1,920 x 1,080) content" 2k is 1440 not 1080.

 

2K is technically 2048x1080. 2560x1440 has always been referred to as 1440p, or if we are to be hipsters, 2.5K. Not that it matters, any of this.

The "K" stands for nK, with the "K" being 1,024 in computer terms and the "n" being the multiple of the "K".

So...

2K = 2,048
4K = 4,096
8K = 8,192
16K = 16,384

no need to do some major remodelling: for 60K you can get a prosumer grade projector that can do 300in.


nope they're not wrong when it comes to consumer stuff.
native (true) 4K is 4096 (x2160) vs consumer electronics do use UHD res (3840x2160) to have the 16:9 ratio (vs 20:9), but companies slap 4K on the box, as lots of ppl dont know what UHD (vs native 4k) means.

tv companies switched to call them 2K screens referring to the tvs widths of 1920,
vs referencing height (1080) in the past..

Yah - if you want the 'ultimate' quality, the OLED/Plasma is NOT the way to go, but a laser projector onto a high quality screen; is.

If you were looking at something more basic, yet still capable of completely and utterly destroying every "4K" OLED, Plasma and (lol) LCD television AND still being laser, then this:

Both of those projectors have 4,096 x 2,160p @ 60fps, and as mentioned both are laser - which nuthin' and I mean nuthin' can beat, except possibly another laser projector from another manufacturer.

Screen-wise, I haver no idea which one is best, but they are super-duper configurable.

As I like the idea of it being close to the thing that is being projected onto, and, would not require tonnes of internal reconfiguration to install. It also is laser, 4,096x2160p@60, 12-bit (wow) colour depth and one thing that always stood out to me is the contrast ratio: ∞:1
