EK announces the global launch of the new signature edition product portfolio – EK Lignum. It is inspired by Mr. Edvard König’s love for woodwork and modern computer technologies.... EK Going for Wood covered Liquid Cooling
What next? Diamonds? RGB Lights / Gold / Wood....Baccarat Crystals? From Homo habilis to Moneystupidus.
Diamonds cover: already exist RGB light: already exist (sadly) Gold: already exist (btw the whole chassis and radiator exist in gold too) wood: yes that's already exist You can add bambo, and platinium that exist too
So... they are now deliberately aiming to form their cooling systems with therman insulators on top of heat producing components? Maybe I'm stupid, but isn't this actually a little silly? But the optics DO look very nice, from a straight visual appeal, I like it.
It's a procreating waterblock. The cover has nothing to do with the thermal transfer which is all happening below with the, you know, water.
Strong words for something that ultimately still is paradox in it's very nature. It won't cripple performance, but the thing remains, you're putting a thermal insulator onto a block that's supposed to bring heat away from what it covers. But hey, at least you got to use the word "procreating" again, I'm sure you feel better now. Have a nice day.
yes and no, in the absolute theory, yes if you want to loose some ° (any heat lost is good) and no because you insulate if you want to "move" faster the heat transfer through the tube (the more is hot the more it goes out to cold)... but as it is on computer mainstream WC (temp are very similar at each point of the loop): cute waterblock it is just to make it cute
How is this any different than having fancy nickel plating? or clear acrylic tops? Personally, I would have gone with a more gunstock finish on the walnut and preferably walnut with a bit more figuring to it. Kinda like the walnut on my 1912 A.H. Fox. https://imgur.com/69eMxUT
