Personally I don't see how there is room for this in the line. They already have 2 - 6 core and 2 - 8 core 3000 chips why would we see the 50 variations. I think Ryzen 9 will also be the 16 core as well since they use odd numbers for Ryzen series and 9 would just represent the upper end of the line where 12 and 16 cores exist. What we will see next is APU models and maybe some extra efficient versions like 45 watt or less TDP models. Will the sub $200 space have room for another 6 core variant or will be just see better 4 core chips in that space? Guess we will see. No hard in speculating though right?

The 1800X was an 8 core 16 thread CPU we didn't get a 2800 but naming the 12 core, 3800 would have just chopped up the line. This is exactly why I didn't believe the 3700 would become a 12 core CPU like AdoredTV leaked. AMD wants you to know for now that x6xx is 6 core and that x7xx and x8xx are for 8 cores.

Lol the 7820x is garbage. I can't wait to swap this piece of crap processor for a 3900.

Clocks are not everything. History repeats it's self over and over again as Intel and AMD trade the IPC crown. AMD took the lead from Intel years ago with dramatically lower clock speeds thanks to a huge increase in IPC. AMD was literally competing with 3Ghz or so Pentium 4s on merely 1.8 Ghz or so. Clocks are not important alone. It is very likely that AMD has finally, again, surpassed Intel in IPC. This means that mid 4 Ghz could very well be enough to conquer 5Ghz Intel. Something tells me the 3800X beats the 9900K in all aspects thus Intels announcement of 9900KS sporting the 5 Ghz all core.

Intel is in some serious trouble with Zen 2 hitting shelves very soon. The 3600/3600X could very well beat the 9700K in all or nearly all aspects and that's huge at $150-$200 less. The 37 and 3800X likely put the 9900K in serious trouble and really the 3900X if it can game like the 9900K in all situations will be a devistating blow to Intel as we are looking at 50% more cores.

Intel needs a price adjustment and it needs to happen now. 9700K needs to be a $250 chip and the 9900KS needs to be $400 or less.

OC vs OC my 9900K does about 15% better than my 2700X in something like Cinebench. The difference is much larger in high refresh gaming from my first hand experience but I really think Zen 2 is covering all of this. The memory controller update is another huge change that will help the architecture. Can't wait to see what memory we can run on that sucker.

What in the world are you talking about? 2066 competes against AMD's X399 platform, not consumer Ryzen - this is an entirely different market segment.

Why not lower prices on Xeons while they're at it! A $100 28-core Xeon will blow the lid off a Ryzen 3900X in productivity tasks! Checkmate, AMD! /s

And please stop it with that BS "I was going to buy AMD but" nonsense - you were never even considering it.

I think that R7 3700x isn't overclocked, so maybe running way under 4.4 GHz, closer to 3.6 GHz, to keep the TDP in the 65 W range and scoring 4806 points...

I don't agree. 2066 is a much more expensive platform than 1151. Intel can't even sell 1151 CPUs for the right price why would 2066 be a real option? 2066 is also not as good for gaming as 1151. 2700X is already super competitive to a 7820X. My 2700X gets 1932 R15 at 4.2Ghz. My 9900K gets 2200 @ 5 Ghz. 3700X and 3800X are definitely an issue for the 9900K and 9700K. Hell the 3600/x is an issue for the 9700K.

Why did you expect 25-30% performance increase over a 9900K in one generation? You had your hopes way off the beat'n path. Even if the 3800X ties a 9900K in single and multi thread performance is that not a win? Especially given that it will consume less power, costs $80 cheaper, x570 has PCIE 4.0, lacks security vulnerabilities that continue to be found on Intel and so on. Is it not a win that you can get 50% more cores from AMD for the price of the 9900K and that the power draw very well could be similar? 3900X not only will destroy a 9900K in multi-threaded workloads but we very well could be looking at performance parity per thread.

On another note I can't wait to see 3900X with SMT off for gaming.

For people building a new computer PCI-E 4 gonna be a big deal specially since there will be PCI-E 4 nvme drive available day one. In fact the amount of support AMD is getting for 3rd party manufacturers for Zen 2 is almost surprising. They certainly seems to believe Zen 2 gonna be a big deal.

@karma777police I appreciate your opinion, and I hope you trolling instead of trying to be smart. That would be spectacularly embarrassing, though.

Anyone else a little confused that there's a 12 core model, but not a 16? Not that it matters, 12 is still crazy for AM4. Maybe they'll do a 16 core later. Also, how has nobody mentioned the PCIe lanes? Seriously, 40 lanes, and nobody even bats an eye? That's getting close to X299, except this is PCIe 4.0, so that means there's actually more available bandwidth.
The 35MB L2 for a 6-core CPU is another major surprise to me. I hope to see a cache of that size carry over to the APUs.

As for the prices, damn, you people are picky. Even compared to Threadripper, I was actually thinking these prices were weirdly low.

I feel sorry for you if you think a handful of extra FPS in games is the only metric that makes a CPU's rank better than everything else. Even when comparing to Intel's own product lineup, that logic is flawed.

standard butthurt intel fanboys are crying on reddit about these not being 5Ghz.

you don't need to run 5Ghz if you can beat it at 4.5!

Not even close. Core 2 Duo destroyed opposition. This time round, AMD merely caught up in performance, albeit at a cheaper price. All Intel have to do is drop the prices. I don't think they'll do that though. Still, it's far from a Core 2 Duo effect. But at least we have competition now.

Amd did the whole 5ghz thing and lost badly. SO why do it again. They are very very competive at 4.5ghz thats good enough for me. Keeping intel in check is something everyone should be happy about. Going to be a very interesting rest of 2019. Anyone on lga1151 are seriously looking at these new processors. I am not a fan boy i have owned both systems. Which ever ones gives me best bang for the buck at the time of my upgrade gets my money. Its about time for navi to start putting a hurting on nvidia.

Looking nice, esp that ryze n9 one, im curious how much more you get outta one , they beat intel at 4.5, but they might even overclock much further with some nifty cooling ;)

intel took that speed crown by failing to incorporate security in its processors, their ipc decreases every time you blink.

Uh... what's the difference? It's implied that what Ricardo meant was clock cycle:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instructions_per_cycle
If you thought he meant frequency, then he would've said so.

Ironic you're calling him the smartass when you're the one getting anal over terminology.
