hodilton has shared a video, showing The Witcher 3 with Pascal Gilcher’s new alpha Reshade mod that adds path tracing/ray tracing GIobal Illumination effects to every DX9, DX10 and DX11 game... The Witcher 3 - 2019 - Ray tracing
So far, the reshade not-really-raytracing doesn't impress me very much.(from the examples I've seen so far). I don't get what the fuss is about. If the game wasn't made with this in mind, no amount of post-processing filters is gonna do much good, except make it look weird.
Thats because it basically is. You can't add proper ray-tracing to a game from the outside. Its most obvious in some of the scenes as the character/camera moves and the lighting of the entire room changes due to that, because light sources go off-screen.
The subtle reflected color is nice in the interior and city scenes, unfortunately they kill it with the warm colors that make everything muddy and whatever they are doing to exaggerate the contrast. In other words, the nice part of this (very subtle light reflection) is ruined by the typical "reshade" nonsense. Also I really do not like the idea of "buying" mods through Patreon. Something feels wrong about that.
