majoirty people dont know about this stuff and never will. and when Ms push fixes they probably not gona bat and eye on anything unless performance hit plainly obvious. no good has happen in the last 2 years since this all started to get exposed

Intel should write in the CoC certificate: sick processor ..., bla, bla, bla! :)

I swear the "I did nothing"/"I didn't do anything" line must be some sort of instinct built in at the genetic level, it's found globally in all technologically handicapped humans. If I had a dollar for every time I've heard that fracking line, I could afford to get away from these people.

    Derp: "I didn't do anything!"
Me: "Dude, this is literally 7 menus deep, with each menu having multiple options. How the hell did you even get here?"
Derp: "I didn't touch anything! The stupid thing just went crazy!"
Me: "So you're telling me, a new phone, by random chance, went multiple menus deep, by itself."
    Derp: "Computers are dumb!"

The "computers are dumb" is probably in the top 10 list of most common things I hear from the "I didn't do anything!" people.

Ya... Disabling ht is not working out very well when gaming, watching stream on twitch client and having chrome open at the same time. Stuttering too much in game.

I do agree, they just show Benchmarks of impact with HT ON and OFF for those who consider it.

One of things I did not get from their "graphs" is if they claim that disabling HT has mere 2~9% impact on given tasks. (Almost no benefit from having HT ON).
Or if those are HT ON pre-patch vs. HT ON post patch. And then HT OFF pre-patch vs. HT OFF post patch. (As 2 separate scenarios.)

    Let me.
If you are familiar with the world of cryptography you know that no one will ever use new algorithm until the community of experts checks it.
I doubt processor manufacturers do the same - ask experts to test their new prototypes of processors.
Judging by the amount of models vulnerable to Spectre and Meltdown each manufacturer failed to analyze and test their processors against side-channel attacks.
It can be that these types of attacks were not developed back when all those processors were created.
Therefore I believe AMD (and other) processors are not vulnerable to RIDL only accidentally, not because their manufacturers were good at security analysis.

So do we still need to disable HT with the latest Windows Update?

Depends on who you ask, what you do, and your level of paranoia. But as far as I'm concerned, the general consensus is "no".

rofl, because I watch streams and keep chrome open, my 4770k with HT disabled makes games stutter like crazy. I had to enable it today again, sigh.

Imagine disabling HT on even 7700k, hehe it makes the cpu useless in 2019.

Well while nothing you say I is wrong as I far as I could tell or guess, you are indeed giving the answer to all my "accusation" yourself: Maybe they should let experts test their new prototypes of processors.
And I doubt that they couldn't flash out the cash to do this, as well as even having maybe more testing done in house, we all know they earned very good money in the past decade.

That would be the best thing. But most probably they should overcome their own "best practices", to look out of the box.

My decision to not upgrade until Intel have sorted their s**t out is truly vindicated.
I'm sticking with my 6700K until they start making noises they have a handle on this.
    See you in 5+ years.
... or when AMD beat the performance for IPC, clock speed and memory.
