2080ti dead but is the PC ok?

So I thought putting my desktop in a $300 Pelican case would make it safe to transport on a 3 hour train ride however when I arrived and plugged my PC in to my TV there was a no signal error, on closer inspection I noticed that the LED GeForce logo wasn’t lightning up and the fans stopped spinning after a few seconds.
However when I clicked on my capslock button I can see the toggle light on and there are no error beeps from the mobo.
So is it safe to assume the card died but the PC itself is fine?
I tried a different PCI-E slot and that didn’t help.
I contacted ASUS customer service office in Germany (that’s where I’m stationed now.)
And they set up a RMA for me thank god.
But the email they sent me also said because I bought my card in the US and not in Europe they might bill me up too €35 which is not a problem but how will they charge me?
Will they include a bill once I get the card back?
Also does anyone have any experience with their turn around time in Germany?
In the US the process never took more than 10 days.

doesn't sound like enough diagnostics has even been performed to rule the card dead.

You have a cpu in a socket that can shift in the slightest and prevent memory or pci-e slots from working.

 

The mobo does have hdmi but there is no signal from that I thought that it’s because in never installed drivers for it

its an LGA specific thing with the way intel has most of the securing pressure on only the side edges of the cpu, you won't see it happen with Ryzen, and the chance of it happening with TR4 is very low because the cpu insertion device is designed to spread pressure in the socket evenly once screwed down.

 

I have a Corsair watercolor installed should I remove and check the CPU?
Right now I’m with family and my PC is at the barracks.
So I won’t be able to check till Monday night.
I plan on buying a GeForce 710 is a temp replacement today.

 

Does it matter that the LED is off and the fans only spin for a few seconds when I boot up?

 

So I’m i visited a local PC store and they were nice enough to check the card for me- in two different PC‘s the card really is dead.
So I’m hoping that the gpu is the only part of the PC that went bad.
The gentleman pointed out that on the pci connector there is a black spot that makes it look like it suffered a short.
So I’m buying a 710 or 1030 tomorrow to take back to the barracks so I can check if the rest of the PC is fine.
What do you guys think?
Is it like likely that board itself is fried?
I hope not the PC turns on after all.

 

It looks like u had a leak, or psu failure. Or both. Anyway, u said less of, fans spins short time, indicates either motherboard or CPU or both are dead. Or just psu, u should check it all...

 

But the cpu heatsink fans and chassis fans are still working.

 

If you are not a "techie"...take pictures of your actual internal components in your system unit.

Then, remove everything and re - seat them.

To be sure ( my perspective)......MOTHERBOARD CONTACT with casing or check with another PSU.

 

it depends upon CPU.... for integrated built in graphics..NOT ON MOTHERBOARD.

The output port is there but as i mentioned it all depends upon the CPU you are using.

Save on the cheap GPU and switch it to onboard in the bios. A reset of the CMOS, should do that if no output.

 

if you had a short, then the card has shifted under its own weight during transport and failed on the next power on.

 

I’ll try that as soon as I get back on post.
Hopefully I can at least play Counter Strike or Elder Scrolls with the UHD 630.
Im praying the 2080ti was the only casualty

 

So the good news the GPU was the only thing that died.
Upon some self reflection I realized that once I get off duty at 1700 every day and buy the time I eat dinner at the chow hall I arrive at the Barracks at 1800 with just enough time to get ready for the next day.
So taking my PC to the barracks was a huge mistake on my part.....so I'm leaving my PC with my Family for my weekend visits.
Anyone have any idea what games I can play with the Intel UHD 630?
do I even bother trying to see if BF5 runs?

PS: I sent my 2080ti back to California and my dad will take care of the RMA for me.

 

You need to invest in a good gaming notebook

 

And the Moral of the story is, anytime you transport a PC long distances you need to RE-SEAT everything in the PC. Clearly the GPU worked its way half out of the PCI-e slot then you powered it on and poof the magic dragon.....
