There are very few sites that put themselves on the line to to put bad guys in their place, they nearly bankrupt themselves doing it but that showed their true metal.
The reviews can be strongly relied on and provide insights that not many or no others cover.
When it comes to specific component reviews they cover I dont need to go elsewhere: Gfx card, VR, CPU, PSU ..., He has shaped the reviews he does with his own insight and user comments, limited by available time and sensibility. Very common sense all round.
Kyle has put a lot of time participating in forums, taking on some real wildcards, the site attracts them!
If they get something wrong they own up or welcome criticism and sort it.
He sometimes loses the plot but I would even more doing his job, its hard to keep up with such a fast pace forum when so much else is going on.
    And way more...

    HardOCP is a huge loss.

    ps he has sold it.
The site will be de-monetised, no more adverts.
Its not fully clear what it will become.

if Hilbert gave up on Guru3D, this place would become the plot for Farcry 5.

I am a grown up ass motherfucker why would I care.If you want to know than you are fracked up in the head.Kyle nor HH pays my bills and I do not give a frack about either one or what they do in there personal life and no one else should care either.

He is an asshole who treats people like garbage and bans them if they do not agree with him.I am going for a ban on his site,oh wait I do not care enough to post what I think on his site.I will still visit his site daily cause I want too.

You put in there guru3d and messed with results, hence guru3d being bolded, then made it look like you didn't. I'm assuming this was meant to be funny?

You have some anger problems dude, you seem to care a lot about the fact that he gave a notice of closure/change/etc. while sitting here saying you don't. If you truly didn't care, you wouldn't even be posting.

If someone who owns a website decides to do something else with their time and close/change ownership/sell/etc. it should only be expected that the people who use said website should have an explanation or even a simple announcement, doesn't have to be long, doesn't have to go into the nitty gritty details, but people appreciate when they do.

If you don't care for this practice, then move on and go on your own way, just because you don't care for it, doesn't mean others don't, your opinion is not the end-all opinion.

Move on, since you state you don't care about anything to do with situations like this, rather then make it obvious you actually do care, like you are currently doing.

Ryan Shrout of PC Perspective also joined Intel a few months ago. Wonder if Intel is on some sort of hiring spree to get tech media specialists to broaden their reach or something.

I only remember vaguely having visited their forums back when I had my GTX 580 when my vbios flash failed.

I used the site maybe 2-3 times every time i was in for a new PSU. i went to the site to check the PSU i had decided to buy first. Was useful for that so i'll need to find a new PSU reviewer before i buy any new PSU.

Could also be an early April Fools day joke.

    Hi, Dan_D, formerly of HardOCP.com here. :)

I remember when I first met with Kyle and he decided to hire me to write motherboard reviews nearly 14 years ago. He told me not to be afraid to say something was a piece of crap if it was a piece of crap. However, he said we had better have our ducks in a row and be able to prove it if any manufacturer (or anyone else) tried to call us out on that. He always encouraged us to look at each product as it is and by itself without personal bias.

He was my go to before Paul Johnson started doing them for HardOCP. I still checked Jonnyguru as well. Those guys know far more about PSU's than I ever will and their recommendations have never steered me wrong.

Kyle isn't like that. I've seen that man turn down allot of potential revenue over the decade and a half I've known him. HardOCP itself isn't continuing, although it will remain operational as is for awhile, but no new articles will be added.

Indeed. This was a concern for many of us. I've spent more time on that forum than any other. He's selling the forum to someone he knows and trusts personally. I don't know who it is. Supposedly, it isn't going to change. At one time the forums were quite expensive to run and maintain, but he's got things running lean and smooth now, so it shouldn't be a problem to maintain it.

For us old enthusiasts, its kind of a big deal. Kyle and HardOCP have been around since the 1990's when GPU's were first becoming a thing and CPU overclocking as we know it now was in its infancy. Water cooling back in those days involved an aquarium pump and sealing an air cooler in Plexiglass and hoping for the best. He was one of the last remaining of the more well known independent web sites and Kyle always called companies out on their BS. He never cowered at the threat of pulled advertising or a lack of provided product samples. I've personally pissed off all the major motherboard makers at one time or another. In some cases, we couldn't get samples from one company or another for years. Kyle would just buy the boards in those cases and review them anyway.

You don't have a lot of that anymore. Most of the popular sites that go back as far as HardOCP does are now laden with tons of ads and have deviated a long way from what they were established to do. They have diversified and become more consumer oriented and less about the enthusiast. Even if I didn't work for the site, it would be a big deal to me. I didn't like it when other sites I frequented were sold to media conglomerates and obvious bias began creeping in to make sure as to not upset advertisers. Getting product samples for free, and then reselling them is part of most site's business models. Most are unwilling to jeopardize that as it raises operating costs.

HardOCP was the way it was because of who Kyle is as a person. Breaking stories like the Phantom console scam and NVIDIA's GPP is something that most sites didn't have the guts to do. The story was actually brought to other sites and they all turned it down. Kyle did it and his relationship with NVIDIA was burned because of it. He felt strongly enough about it to take that risk. Few others would have.
