RX Vega Owners Thread, Tests, Mods, BIOS & Tweaks !

In my card (stock Vega 64) the main BIOS was at the “front” (video connectors’ side) and the backup is at the “back” (power cables’ side).

But that isn’t important. The good thing is that the flashing was successful.
Also, the fact that the secondary BIOS is locked is one of the best secondary features of Vega (and I bet other Radeon) cards, especially Vega 56 ones!

For the HBM, try 1100MHz, that’s a very good increase from the 56’s 800MHz and it’s one of the easiest to reach with full stability.

Really liking the power saver mode.

5% less performance for 25% less power, and not really noticeable unless you try running really demanding stuff. Not sure why reviewers don't mention it, because it honestly does make heat and noise a non issue. Might just be me, but it also appears to have some specific power saving settings that aren't available in custom mode.

Here is my Chilled & UV HWinfo64 meansurment in last FC5 session:
FS is ON
Chill is set to 64-70FPS
1672MHz @ 1.087v HBM2 @ 1120MHz/937v

er which registry file, the entire registry? if so, the tool just exits silently. Yes, I am quite noobish!

Hard to say for me (im not in need to use one)
Im using only OverdriveN Tool w/PP states.

After trying the default AMD profile Balanced I thought "wouldn't it be great if I could just lower the temperature target and let the driver manage everything?", but OverdriveNTool doesn't seem to allow that. I think I see the option in the .ini file but after manual edit the tool just resets the value, thus why I'm exploring other options.

 

It is the same PP state reg. file that can be Loaded into Win registry by OverdriveNTool.
Right click on top banner and select PP Table Editor.

Also You can reset to default by WattMan then save it (export) via OverdriveNTool then edit Original one.

Interesting. Looks like it is right on the borderline of being 1920x1080 in stereo for 60fps 3d projector or HBM.

Thanks for the tip where those extra options are in OverdriveNTool. Sadly my registry does not contain any such entry "PP_PhmSoftPowerPlayTable", the closest one that is there would be 'PP_PhmSoftWTable' for what its worth. As you say though, Wattman xml export does contain the info, unfortunately nothing is labeled, but I will go right on ahead and deduce it all! ​

Thanks to this method We can have Moded every modello of Vega GPUs 64/56/Nano NP.

I hear C0 revision Vega cards are better binned and reserved for liquid cooled Vega 64s, so it would be interesting to see if a non C0 revision card could match or better that.

All I can say is that my Vega FE (so, first batch of Vega) can't do 1750mhz, at any voltage (and it's watercooled with an EK block, temps are fine). Well, I can pass some benchmarks, but it's not rock stable. 1700mhz possible, but with a lot of voltage, and a huge power draw. The difference was not big enough from my 1600mhz@1.1120v (cool and not that power angry). HBM2@1050mhz, and I love having 16gb of it, it's used in some games now...

 

My Sapphire Vega 56 Pulse flashed to Vega 64 can do 1600MHz at less than 1.1v on air. So yeah, I guess that later revisions must have gotten better thanks to better yields.
