I've installed MSI Afterburner to create a custom fan curve. I have disabled all other monitoring functions and have the program running in the background. I am very sensitive to subtle changes in mouse input since I primarly play games like csgo. I don't know if it's placebo, but I feel like the program adds some input delay to mouse movement. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
The only thing I can see that would cause anything like that is a wrongly configured RTSS (perhaps you clicked one of the frame limiter thingies by accident or something.) But if you disabled all monitoring, RTSS should not be running. Is it running?
Is it possible that MSI Afterburner adds a small amount of input lag, because the fan speed control is done through the software instead of directly on the card?
It wouldn't affect the mouse directly. The software fan control could add a frame or two of latency by repeatedly checking for gpu stats and sending commands for fan speed to the card. I don't know, maybe it's all just in my head...
So just to make sure, you have left fan update period to "5000" and set hardware polling period to "10000"? 'Cause they're in set in milliseconds. And hardware polling done too frequently will definitely add lag.
Please do research and learn some basics before making such claims. There is no "repeatedly checking for gpu stats and sending commands for fan speed to the card", that's why fan speed update period setting exists, fan controller settings are updated _once_ per five seconds. And there is "show status" command in hardware monitoring window allowing experienced users to see how much CPU time exactly is spent on this process.
Sorry, I just said it "could" add a frame, I don't know how the software works, that's why I came here to ask.
