    Hi,

I have upgraded to an MSI 1070 GTX TI not long ago. I plugged in into DP ports and everything was normal.

Later some time, the pc wouldn't boot (it turns on but no POST or anything) unless I use HDMI.

Any ideas or how to diagnose this?

My video card has 3 DP ports, none of them work. Monitor is a BenQ 2560x1440 Standard monitor, it has DP 1.2.

DP cables are quite expensive here, so I'd like to diagnose the most possible before buying a new one

    Thanks

Weird. Try to connect your monitor to the GPU using both HDMI and DP cables. If it boots with HDMI, try switching inputs to DP and see what happens.

Nothing seems to work. If I plug both I get to see two displays, but cannot enable them or set their resolution.

Setting DP on the monitor, goes black screen and returns to HDMI.

Unplgguing HDMI goes black screen for ever

Do you happen to have DP on your motherboard? Any older GPU that has DP lying around?

You might not want to try a new cable, but that is the obvious next choice.

It's almost definitely a cable issue, and unless you have any hardware you can borrow to test, you'll probably have to take the risk and buy one to know for sure.

Update: it was the cable. So yes, don't buy cheap chinese DP cables. I am surprised I cable can make a pc not boot at all.

Probably a short circuit making your graphics card refuse to run.
