Worst green team GPU you ever owned?

FX 5200 from MSi...

It had 128 megs and DX9 support. But if I set Half Life 2 to DX9 on it, I could only play on 640x480... LOL

The thing is... It still works... It's a card that never gave up, never gave me problems, it has a passive heatsink, so it's noise-free...

Used it for a good time as a HTPC card, until I replaced it with a Radeon 9600XT.

 

8800 320mb vram bottleneck and later died after warranty expired.. xD replaced it with 250gts 1gb back then

 

EVGA GTS 250 , would not sli with 9800gtx+, went back to microcenter and exchange for a Evga 275 gtx oc, used the 9800GTX + as physx.

 

By the way my fx5200 at some point started to melt
Back then I went to my dad and asked what is that smell? I thought he was doing something in the kitchen Then we realised that the card is fireing.
The funny thing is that this was when I was watching only shrek 1

 

I had a 32mb tnt2 pro. It wasn't a bad card, but making everything run right on it was a major pain.

 

FX5200 - it was just completely incapable - I made a massive upgrade to an X800 XL, it was amazing.

Best Nvidia card I had however was 9600GT yet I'd say it was the worst for drivers at the time come Windows Vista, blue screens and driver recovery constantly. Kept having to swap drivers because new driver broke old games etc

 

Geforce 4 MX 440
GTX 260 - think i expected more (and prob wanted more), owned it for 5 months before getting a beast, the 4870 x2

 

I never had a bad video card, mostly all my gpu had the bad luck of having me as a owner. 9800 GTX fried because of xtreme oc, radeon 7970 vrm fried for modding the bios, 770 fans broken because 100% 24/7, 980 fried vrm because of extreme bios modd too, and a 2080ti that i ordered recently but never came and got my money refunded (probably afraid of me), i guess this 1080 was the strongest gpu i had because never failed, some crashes here and there rarely because is sitting at 2150mhz core and 11.6ghz mems, but is holding well.

 

7900gt. 3 months in, snow began to appear on screen. Faulty batch of vram that affected many cards. Nvidia never acknowledged the problem, they simply withdrew the card and replaced it with 7950gt.

 

GT 620. It felt worse than the FX5200 I had the year before, around 2004. The best was an XFX 8800GS I got in 2008 for almost the same price I've paid for the GT620 in 2005. The 8800 series cards were amazing.

FX 5200, FX 5500 and FX 6200

 

FX5500 bought it as an upgrade from a Ti 4200 128. Literally owned it for an hour. Returned it for a 9600XT been red ever since.

 

So it seems that the FX series were defiantly the worst crap ever made by nVidia.

I myself had FX5200 to replace MX4000 just to play generals, then FX5500 to "upgrade" 5200, then i sold it and bought R9550, that card was one of the best ATI cards ever made.

Geforce 3 TI, it had too many issues and Nvidia pretty much abandoned it in the end.

 

Would be a tie between my SLI GTX 570's and all the issues I had with SLI (the cards individually were fine) and my GTX 285 which I had all sorts of driver issues with and ran really hot, I think I would probably say the SLI setup was the worse of the two just because I actually paid for that, the GTX 285 was a freebie card I got given when the card I was using at the time blew up (I cant remember what card I was using, could have been an ATI HD 4850)

 

Either the Diamond V550 (Riva TNT due to bad drivers) or the GTX680 due to underwhelming performance plus it also died a year later or so.

 

Well the gtx 680 was the first time nvidia started pulling the crap of naming a midrange gpu (gk104) as a highend product, and charging a highend price for it... so the gtx 680 was the real start of nvidia's greed craze.

I had personally made the mistake of getting the 2 gb version of the 680, which was a limiting factor from the moment i got it.

 

There is zero evidence to suggest that the GK104 was a departure from the norm of delivering the top GPU available at the time for top prices and is more indicative of Nvidia's earned ability to manufacture bigger dies with better yields (than before) and sell them first as Quadros and Teslas before filtering them down to the GeForce line when they had better yields. The 680 had a good boost in performance over the 580 which was already a minor enhancement on top of the 480.
