    Flabbergasted...

Wonder what made them U-turn on this, I mean there's no way in hell they did this just to "play fair" right?

Thanks for the heads up btw

the drivres will have reconfigured support for 12 monitors does that mean that only the 12 monitors will get support for now?
Or my LG 29UM67-P with is FreeSync compatible monitor will also get it from 15th of January?
Im so hyped not only for the FreeSync technology but the fact that now I should get Native 75Hz without frame drops.

"For VRR monitors yet to be validated as G-SYNC Compatible, a new NVIDIA Control Panel option will enable owners to try and switch the tech on - it may work, it may work partly, or it may not work at all."

Guess we just need new drivers to test.

I gather there will probably be some sort of CP Wizard to enable the settings. I would certainly use CRU to do any edits to the range first before attempting.

Can't imagine a free NVCP Wizard from NVidia. And if so, it would be Geforce Experience Exclusive for sure ;)
But I can image one extra option under resolution options: Adaptive V-sync: enable/disable, and then perhaps even a box or two with min and max Hz settings. Do we need more?
Guess I'd like it either. A nice UHD FreeSync 2 monitor is not out of the question anymore by definition.. w00t :D

Yep I was about to buy a nice 27" 1440p 144hz HDR Freesync 2 monitor. Having this does open up the possibility of getting an Nvidia card somewhere down the track if I needed to.

Big question for me is whether they will support it over HDMI? Just pulled the trigger on an ultrawide LG 29WK500 which has FreeSync (40-75hz) but only over HDMI...

HDMI 2.1 should do the trick. EDIT: Don't know about 2.0.

I think the monitor is only 1.4...

I dont think I am going to open it once it arrives in case I need to return it after seeing how this all will work.

I don't see why not if it is listed as working with Freesync.

If they're advertising it it should work. Then again, it's NVidia compatibility we're talking about.
Guess I'm to focused to much on UHD, HDR and such right now :D

i think nvidia has no choice this time..

HDMI 2.1 will have VRR as part of the spec, so they are getting ready now to support non-gsync devices, lol

I'm really excited for this as I picked up an Acer zx321qu not too long ago. I went for the HDR instead of Gsync, now it looks like I'm probably going to get both.. and without paying for that Gsync premium (hopefully at least) :)

Hdmi 2.x + is only needed for HDR, otherwise 1.4 is enough.

Same for DP, 1.2 is all it takes to do the trick, since it already has enough bandwidth for HDR.

    12 out of 400.

12 monitors out of 400 are of decent enough specification to pass nvidias tests.

    Where are AMD's tests?

    388 monitors are just trash.

    We don't know anything about:

    A) Nvidia's test methodology
    B) AMD's test methodology
    C) Potential incompatibilities with Nvidia's Adaptive Sync implementation
    D) What defines "certification" according to Nvidia
    E) Nvidia's actual numbers rather than reported ones (might be true, might be false)
    F) How many of these monitors have actually been FreeSync certified (which is optional)
    G) How many of these monitors would have their issues fixed with firmware / hardware revisions had they been certified before this process

So I wouldn't be so rash and jump at an opportunity to bash either company.

However, most FreeSync displays are indeed trash as we've seen in the real world.
