Not sure whats up with my speakers but they seem to having some issues. I have the Microlab Solo 8C Take a listen: (HEADPHONE USERS BE WARNED!!!) Its quite loud so don't have your volume to high! https://vocaroo.com/i/s0Rko6oayEGd Sound like its having some power issues?? These speakers are coming up on 3 Years old. I got them in December 2015 so they are not that old but get a lot of use.
That's not clipping. That's audio drop out. No idea what's causing it. One of the best places to ask about this is Hydrogenaudio: https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php?action=forum
sounds like sound processing not getting enough power (usb soundcard? try change to 3.0 port ) ..what are your audio system spec? caps leaking on your speaker's preamp/on soundcard/ or other related sound hardware could causing that too.. in this case, its related to power issue i think...
Im using a Aduigy Rx with SPIDIF to connect to the speakers. I have not had a chance to try other outputs/inputs from the sound card to the speakers yet but I will do when I get a chance. I also noticed recently that the speaker are humming/buzzing a little bit when i turn them on with no sound playing. Does that on all inputs. Aux, PC, Optical
Does sound like a power issue, amp power problem rather than soundcard? Does it happen with headphones ?
Ok, some confusion! The speakers have an in-built amp. Its not powered externally. Anywhore.. I have had a look at its insides. Two of the main caps are starting to expand at the top but not enough to cause an issue.. https://photos.google.com/share/AF1...?key=dWJkRUMwN2xpRE9hQ1lWSU1vWEFjQ0pJeGJLbWt3
I don't know enough about caps and how far they can bulge before issues occur but I'd say if they are bulging then something inside is them is not as it should be, and as it seems to be a power problem it could be them Cheap and easy enough to replace them to see though? Caps are basically a battery in a sense, if they cannot hold their charge / charge fully, then it seems likely they would not be able to power the amp fully
