It's the same Intel that said in the beginning of 2017 that they have perfect trust in Kaby Lake's performance against the imminent AMD Ryzen. Then half a year later they announced Coffee Lake, incompatible with Kaby Lake mobo wise to boot. Intel is about as trustworthy as the former Sudan oil minister who had to flee and now needs my help to transfer 100 millions out of the country, 5% of which I can acquire if I first send him 2000 euros for the necessary expenses.

Intel's HQ: We have a problem - AMD's EPYC 32C makes us look Bad!
Intel's Marketing Department: I have an IDEA! Let's take 4U 4X24C Xeon Platimun and make it 2U! We gonna have "2x24C CPU" +2x6ch Memory to crash AMD'd 32C EPYC!
Intel's HQ: Well Done! Your department just saved our A*S Again!
Intel's Marketing Department: Thank you, We worked very hard for it! ;)

Only makes me think they're reaching for the last straws they can grab... everything Intel does is against what they criticised about competition's products as long as they were leading, now that things have changed they just do the same that AMD does, only with charging 40% more. More cores, soldered heatspreaders, etc. etc. pp. it's all there.

Thats matter of opinion, only part where intel might have advantage is low resolution gaming but that come at cost.

When 1st ryzen launched, it outclased intel by miles because it offered twice as many cores at half of costs.

Right now, it would still be better deal to buy 2700x and replace it next year with 3700x for almost same cost as 9900k.

I don't care about 3% IPC difference in CPU bound cases as long as I get better(longer) platform support, not to mention that in realistic daily usage slightly higher IPC and higher clocks hardly make any difference.

And that's before even considering that 2950x cost only like $200 more than 9900k and offers A LOT more performance except in gaming where its just a bit slower @3440x1440 which I am using.

Also still only available version is Tray with shorter warranty.

    Copycat! ... haha.

Well, AMD had the jump on what will be the cpu models going forward. With die shrinks coming very close to the end, this makes sense until a new path is adopted.

What? Where? How? Did I miss something in last few years?
Because Ryzen's IPC is around intel's. That's if you read IPC as what it was till intel tried to change its meaning into something really stupid.
So, next time you talk IPC, try to compare chips at same clock.

Probably Molten lake, given temps they are starting to reach and 350W+ likely TDP

Should also note that IPC is not constant, it vary between applications.

So Intel are connecting two of their already monolithic dies together? I thought the whole point of going for an MCM construction method was to improve yields, and reduce cost, while maintaining performance? Seems they've thrown out 2 of the 3 principles there for the sake of the third.
What information do we have in this interconnect? Would certainly be interesting to see if they've been able to pull off Infinity Fabric "Intel Edition" without infringing on any patents.
And then we have a 2x 48c dual socket system being compared to a 32c,not really the greatest comparison to try make there Intel.

The footnotes are especially interesting "may not reflect all publicly available security updates" Take from that what you will. But £5 says they're not running any of them.

Not by application, but by instruction. And those architectures dance around each other. Depending on latency requirements.
