Lost me there hahah :-D As if any troubleshooter ever worked reliably.

Joking aside, I'm rather happy managing things my own way, thank you MS. However, if this works well enough then I suspect a lot of issues can be solved easier by non-techy people, which is a good thing for Windows.

Oh, yeah. Automatic "Fix" from company which releases destructive "patches". And how do you enable this "wonderful" malware? You "only" have to stop blocking their spyware.

I feel it in my bones now, it is cancer.

What was telemetry used for up until this point?

It became fairly obvious it was not being used for fixing problems when the OS that had millions of testers and stupid amounts of telemetry was the buggiest to date

"why not just automatically fix issues that you know how to fix and can detect?"

If I can detect the issue and know how to fix it, why do I need MS again ?

Their 'Fix Me' creators never work.

What puzzles me is that they will 'start' using telemetry data for issue diagnostic just now.

What the hell they were using it for past 3 years? Poor Windows 10 users. :D

Investment, what other value is there? They got linked-in for that reason too.
Selling your data to NSA is just tiny thing for them, knowing what is popular to whom and what is future of company based on its employees and ratings they give.
    Flow of people...

Telemetry is the first service to get turned off (after every update; Nvidia, too).

Many years ago I was talking with a Microsoft employee, and he asked me what's the biggest database on Earth that nobody ever reads. The answer was Microsoft error report database.

Correction. Update is the first thing to be turned off after a fresh install

As long as telemetry can fix all dcom problems in the logs, I will use it.

Y'know all that whining people do about MS/Windows spying on users? As far as I'm concerned, that's the telemetry service. That is what sends most of the user's data to MS. To my knowledge, it's been around since Windows XP.
So basically, this is just adding more responsibility onto the service.

What scares me the most isn't the automatic updates breaking my system, but the fact that they have sufficient data to help us individually.

I.... call BS. Never had windows fix an issue for me, not prior to win10, nor afterwards.

Even if so, it's a system that's designed with flaws they just left over to fix with telemetry. Even if that's true, and telemetry is used for it, it's still a sign they did not do their job properly in the first place, or there'd be nothing to fix.
