Will this not be bumping into the 1070???

How about the 2060?? I would rather see that.

    Thanks HH.

There probably won't be an RTX 2060, they've said that there isn't sufficient raytracing performance below the 2070 to warrant building one. And the 1070 won't get another boost past the 1070Ti because the 2070 is only a little faster then a 1080, and they would not want to compete with themselves.

The most likely thing they will do is do a die shrink on the 1070 to save costs, rebrand it as a GTX 2060, and turn the 1060 into the 2050 like they have done in the past.

GDDR5x has particulars about optimisation that will make these cards pretty poor for compute work initially.

What is this? 5th? 6th differently configured GTX 1060 on HW level?

    +1 , thinking the same here :/ , GTX1060 6GB GDDR5, GTX1060 3GB normal edition , GTX1060 3GB gimp castrated edition , GTX1060 10GB GDDRX5 incoming + the different hardware configurations done by third hardware partners :D , i believe this will step into GTX1070 and GTX1070Ti territory with high enough clocks and very fast 10GB gddrx5 memory.

I'd buy one if the price is correct.

Now we get RX 480 on 12nm and GTX 1060 with GDDR5X.

Wouldn't a used 980ti crush any form of a 1060 for less money?

Are these gt 1060 cards even bandwidth limited to begin with i mean the 1070ti with gddr5 performs almost the same as the 1080 with gddr5x the difference is so small that i'm not even sure the difference is from the missing SM or the slight bandwidth gain.

they are bandwidth limited to an extent.

here you can see the msi gaming X+ (9gbps) vs the old msi gaming X (8gbps) (have the same rated core clocks)

(this assumes the same boost clocks are hit on both cards, which may vary between samples)

65 fps vs 62fps about 5% performance increase, for a 12.5% increase in memory frequency.
if i were to guess, i assume MAX maybe 8-12% (depending on whether it ends up with 10 or 12gbps memory) with over a 8gbps card.

this of course will only be evident with bandwidth bottlenecks, anything shader bound will perform exactly the same.

    That's just sad.

I remember the good old days when performance would literally double every year.

Now we have 2 year old hard ware with a few tweaks and a new sticker totalling to about 10 percent in performance increase.

It truly is a sad state.

Shames me to say this being in the IT industry for more than a decade

Sadly have to agree, but due to a lack of competition and i assume Nvidia just has way too many chips sitting around they're making all these extra variations of cards to try and get rid of them.

Doesn't help with the 1060 cards being rather confusing to deal with to the ill-informed, Guess this is kind of what a future without AMD would look like, Nvidia doing what they want because they could.

Though i don't get it from a business standpoint, the cards obviously just aren't selling well because everyone either has these cards or waiting for the next step up not a side upgrade

You forgot the GTX 1060 5GB version for the China Market with 160bit bus :D

Wanna know about competition in graphics?
Start at 24:00, if too lazy to get context start at 32:30... 43:15 is how they killed the rest. 49:00 is what nV is doing for decades and why RTX came now.

And that folks, is what happens when it's a monopoly. You get the same recycled crap aeons later. I just want to remind you all that a 1060 is not that much faster than a 970... which is a mid range card from 2014.

The market is so screwed that people are going to be happy to pay $300 USD, consider it a good deal, and get mid range 2014 performance.

Any point in a budget card when it doesn't support Freesync panels?

I'm waiting for the RX590 and praying it doesn't cost an arm and a leg (more than 250€).
