Hello everyone,i had extremely busy weeks behind me,and i just did not notice that some of the updates wiped out my oc on my 6850k.i found out it was the KB4100347 update in september.since than i have installed the October updates and i just could not find that particular update to uninstall,so i rolled back to my previous version i was able to remove it and my oc was back in play.is there any workaround to not install that microcode update with the october features pack on win 10 64bit?i wanted to use this october update but i dont wanna loose my oc.thank you for any advice.
Hey there, see this thread for what the other gurus found out about KB4100347 and overclocks: https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/n...kb4100347-kills-broadwell-e-overclock.423031/
Are you talking about 1809? Yeah, I have a thread about it here: https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/win10-1809-are-you-mitigated.423421/ From what I've understood iit appears that the microcode is baked in 1809 without a KB update to uninstall the microcode. I'm too looking for a way to uninstall it.
thank you for your suggestions.inspectre will disable this blocking microcode in the 1809?does it work for you?
The microcode still gets reported as updated but the fixes are disabled, I don't know if it will fix your issue but it is easy to test and disable. I use Inspectre to disable both fixes but I didn't have problems before.
Reminds me of the days when I had to run a program to disable the TLB fix for the Phenom I. The fix was backed into Vista SP1 and there was no way to directly remove it.
Did Inspectre allow you to OC again? When you disable stuff in Inspectre you can undo them. Just make sure you reboot the PC once your've disabled everything.
Just out of curiosity, how is a bios level manual overclock going to be prevented by a software patch? Serious question, since it does not make sense to me.
From the reports so far 1809 loads a microcode update that alters the way the cpu functions in win10. However, reverts back to it's natural state just before win10 loads. So in Bios the microcode will read something different then in 1809. This is also a learning process for me as well. And, it would be a 1st for MS to do if this turns out to be what's going on. However, Inspectre is said to fix this. Allowing you to use your CPU like you did with 1803/1709, etc.
