I'll be building a new rig shortly to replace my geriatric sandy bridge. I've had nothing but good experiences with the x70 series so far (even though 970 has a bit of a chequered past).
It all depends on real benchmarks though.

RTX2080Ti is on my list but at those prices they can forget it. I want to move from these SLi 980TI's and get a single card but for that price...no.

Honestly it makes no sense to upgrade to the 2080 ti when 12nm is only a stop gap for 7nm next year. Nvidia is notorious for milking its costumers and screwing them. When AMD releases their 7nm next year, we all know nvidia will have another card ready / or they will drop their prices massively.

My 1080Ti is more than enough for my needs so no upgrade for me. Unless Hilbert decides to give me a 2080Ti for christmas...:D

If I had a GTX 1080 Ti then I'd be happy where I was. But my GTX980 and Sandy Bridge i5-2500k is screaming for an upgrade. So I'm looking to the RTX 2080Ti- if the benchmarks are satisfying.

It got moved to the 19th by nVidia due to some reviewers not getting drivers on time. Edit: I linked to a questionable review. I deleted it.

IMHO, not enough to entice to upgrade from 1080 and up. Second gen should offer a lot more incentive to pull the trigger.

Running a 1070 with my old 4.8 ghz 2700k rig at 1080p 75hz and not planning to upgrade unless something dies from old age at this point, and have had no problem running anything maxed out/mix of high settings yet.

Probably the last GPU for this rig regardless though as I am stuck running PCI-e 2.0 due to the Sandy CPU and I think anything much more than a 1070 starts to see noticeable perf drops vs PCI-e 3.0. Could always trade up to a 3770k on my same mobo for PCI-e 3.0 but honestly seems like too much work and the thermals sucked on those chips anyways so probably less OC room.

With kids on the way and a lack of time to play and tinker my next upgrade will be whatever console Nintendo has out at the time most likely.

Friend bought the 2080.. so I have t he 1080ti. Been testing and.. theres NOTHING the 2080 is faster in that I have. 1-5 frames up or down taken into effect. I dont know the past.. was the 1080ti just as fast as the 980 when it came out?

As for the 2080ti... HUGE rip off. No way its worth $1200. Lets not PICK a game that RIGHT NOW might show it 40% faster. It BEST be 40% faster in ALL. This has NOTHING do to with "oh I have the money to through away". If that be the case..give to some kids or homeless or cancer what ever. Or the streamers that give all to different things..

The fact so many PAID and had no clue if it is as fast as SOME say. The fact Nvidia left out all this info from the start and price? $699 that was wrong because of supply and demand HAHA as Nv said WOW and its all OK! Strange times when people can do say things do things that are out right wrong and.. ITS OK! haha

So now that 1080ti is out of the question, basically sold out or too high new, 2080RTX is the next best thing for ~ 680-750€. Not willing to pay 1200€ for a 2080Ti, no waaay. Although I said here 2080ti or bust.

I looked at this, seems to be a very solid card judging by this German review,
    http://game2gether.de/os_hardware/kfa2-rtx-2080-ex-test-review/5/

also keeps it cool bellow 70C, but dunno.. Think I'll wait a bit longer if ti goes down a little bit more.. atm goes from 679-740€

I sold off a GTX 560 Ti, GTX 570 and GTX 1060 and bought a MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z.
I would have liked the 2080 or 2080 Ti, but pricing was indeed the bottom line. Of course I still had to pay quite a bit.
I really like it. I need to upgrade my CPU as now it is holding back my GPU some.
A 1080 Ti might have been a better buy, dollar wise.
