    Pffft.

You're forgetting that an 83% increase when the FPS is 23 is meaningless since its not playable.

Many people are ignoring the fact that these RTX cards will absolutely crush previous cards when running RT or DLSS, which is kinda the main purpose of this generational shift. I'd like to see the numbers when FFXV is running DLSS.

    Yeah, th
Edit Post by slicer is is what You get when Nvidia fanboys started paying 1000+usd for gaming GPU's...
Firstly it was flagship one-off card... ok. Titan series.
Then it was high-end card- 1080Ti.
Now you will get 2080- midrange card for same price. :D
Next year you will pay same money for GTX/RTX 3060 (equivalent to 1060 range now).
Keep buying those cards from Nvidia...
Because they will keep asking more and more...

If it was me, I would buy GTX1080Ti second hand. They are right now already available at 500 euros. Next month or two, they will be around 400euros. At same time you will pay 700 for 2080 and performance is same.
And those new features will not make a difference in games to justify that. Too big performance hit, even for "RTX" cards.
Right now it is just a nice gimmick. Maybe in 5 years games will utilize that and cards will be so much more capable to deliver that.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Flagship Graphics Card’s Market Availability Pushed Back To 27th September

Because the thermal paste isnt hard enough and scare mongering to get more pre sales is a tactic now you know.
This company behaves like no other in history and people just lap it up.
But honestly if you pre purchase you deserve the insane price.

Well I think I got around 3200 with my 980ti at ~1420mhz, not bad and basically near stock 1080 or 1070ti.. 1070 is more crippled by its lower ROP and memory bus.

    look at it this way
what should they do wait for amd to put out a 15% slower top end card that is the same price?

more like they got slammed with preorders 1200usd cards how many can they make/sell?
I rather ship cards that are paid for first who wants to hold a big stock of these?

My best score from 7 months ago. Card wasn't even wc yet(have the block). Not exactly apples to apples of course but it's what I got to compare with. :)

    8700K 5Ghz
    16GB 4133C17 Ram
    GTX 1080TI ~2000-2040/12100
    388.71

    HQ 4K
    2080Ti = 5897
    1080Ti = 5179

    So we got about ~14% increase in 4K with let's assume a stock 2080Ti vs oc'ed 1080Ti.

Adding that to the ~16.5% increase from ocing the 1080Ti we get about ~30.5% increase in 4K FFXV benchmark for stock 2080Ti vs 1080Ti.

I usually sell my previous card when updating so it's not that much of a hit in the wallet. After I sell my 1080ti, I'll upgrade to the 2080ti.

Don't worry. If this goes on way you suggest, next gaming stuff we buy is PS5.

He also left out the fact that the 1080/1070 FE editions were basically all you could buy for the first three months.. that equally/higher priced AIB boards. 1080 basically sold for $700+ for 3-4 months after it was launched with most of the STRIX variants and whatnot going for $750+. Nearly all 980Ti's could hit 1500Mhz and would perform nearly identically to stock 1080s.

I personally don't find the rumored performance/features of the 2080Ti worth $1000-1200 but I'm also not going to write a poem about it.

hey guys, you know what is drives me crazy, that 2080 ti has 11GB video, same as 1080 ti, why not at least 12GB? Same amount.

I agree 2080 and 2080ti are not good for those who have 1080 or 1080ti especially with curent prices

Beware of the test, it depends on the games, drivers and especially in the game is very different. + 32% in 4k it's enough :) my 1080Ti is a bit limited. we must not forget that many games will be DLSS compatible, so the performance, like this FFXV will be much better! I ordered mine and I do not regret. just for the new Ray tracing architecture: P. otherwise this card is not suitable for people playing games in 1080p unless ray tracing makes you want.

It is the smallest increase in performance but Nvidia has no competition. AMD has nothing to compete on the high end so Nvidia has no reason to make a hug leap in performance. This is also the reason these new gpu's cost so much.

Not only that, by the time it's actually available in stores this will be the biggest gap in time between generations that I can remember.

it's funny everyone is talking about benchmarks but officially, there is still nothing, it is only a game, which gives no real indication of the performance of the gpu, not counting drivers, not yet available

You're cherry picking and forgetting the reality.

Granted, these are "averages", and there are scenarios where its less and more

Obviously there are outliers, and we don't know what the percentage average on this website will be for a 1080 ti vs 2080 ti, but if it was your 32%, it's not exactly the most impressive ofcourse, but that's more average then anything.

If we averaged out all the values above, you'd get 52.37%, if you took out the 162, since that's an outlier, the average is 36.71%

Tell you what though, for the price, i'll grant you, it would seem disappointing. That being said, again IF it's 5-6 times more power then pascal in raytracing, where exactly has there been an improvement of 5-6 times the performance of a previous card in...anything?

IN-B-4 "I don't care about raytracing!" nonsense, which if stated is just showing someone doesn't know what raytracing is, since there's literally no way someone can say they don't care about raytracing if they have any clue what raytracing is....

Can people imagine what CGI movies would look like if they were not raytraced? Man, there would definitely not any reason to be impressed by them lol

Personally I expected at least 12GB on RTX 2080Ti too, although 16GB would make me very happy which I think we will see 16GB on next Titan

I will have EVGA RTX 2080Ti sometime next month for testing as friend already placed the order and he asked me to build him loop, will see how it performs on my PC and then I will decide if I would be getting one later on or not

    Hope this helps

    Thanks, Jura
