Well, the all-core boost speed is still higher than the 2700X. But otherwise I agree.
Remember, the TDP isn't the real-world wattage, it's the approximate heat output at the base clock.

The all-core boost is more or less overclocking, because the all-core boost would produce 150 Watts or something like that and 5Ghz all-core would be close to 250 Watts, in other words more then a AMD 9590.

Well, I see nothing indicating that they are planning on releasing a Core i9 for ordinary consumers, nor do I see any reason to assume this. If anything, I would imagine that they would do the exact opposite and try to get ordinary consumers onto their expensive HEDT platform (remember the quad cores they released for X299?).

And now we care about powerdraw?

Years ago, 3930k OC + 2x 780ti classified OC draw 1700w from the wall with watercooling. THAT was powerdraw...

Total system power of a 780 ti was generally around 400 watts.

Total system power of a 3930k was generally around 230 watts

    400 + 400 + 230 = 1030 watts

Now, you may say "Well, i said my CPU was overclocked, and my 780 ti wasn't stock either"

    Sure, i get you.

But, if that's what you're about to say, realize i said TOTAL SYSTEM POWER for those statistics.

Why is this important? Because i did not take any wattage out of the total system power, which means i've assentially trippled all the other parts in the systems power draw (motherboard, ram, HDD, etc.) which will more then cover any OC

So reality is, per your statement:

"Years ago, 3930k OC + 2x 780ti classified OC draw less than 1000w from the wall with watercooling."

    Just for more references

And ofcourse this last one ^ Since it talks about the more power hungry, and OC'd 3970k and the total SYSTEM POWER on a game that taxes both the GPU and the CPU

It has now been discovered there is the Religion of Intel.

    Q3 is very late,

I think what people forget is that timing is key, intel is too slow to react, first gen ryzen went unchallenged for ~6months, with pinnacle ridge , it will likely be the same

fact of the matter is intel doesnt have anything new to show, these chips are all based on the same old skylake core, these are stopgap chips essentially , until they can fix 10nm.

They really needed to launch that 8 core yesterday.

Zen2 will likely launch early next year, after which is is highly probable that these "new" parts will be outclassed, they will be on 7nm have pcie 4.0, higher clocks , likely more than 8 cores.

they'd better launch that thing soon, or it may very well be a crib death.

I feel there is a disconnect or that nizzen is confused, or that nizzen seems to know something that the rest of us don't, and that intel is changing up their i9 series

Up till now (and i suspect is still true), i9 series is an HEDT product line, HEDT product lines stay on the x99 or x299 or ##99 series, whichever you want to call them.

So why would the i9 go onto the z370?

Again, this would be a break from the norm that Intel has shown time and time again

If what nizzen is saying were to be true, then that'd mean Intel is bringing out an i9 without quad channel support, in which case, what exactly distinguishes i9 series, which is supposed to be HEDT, from the mainstream series?

And in the case of what @Solfaur says, again that really doesn't make any sense to make the i9 series available on the z390 either, unless Intel has decided to just throw out the entire distinguishing parts of their lineups

What, why. Do you play at 1080p or lower?? I don't 99% of the time or only if I can't DSR and stick with 1080p e.g. RoTR, so.. not sure where are you aiming with that.

Let me quote my own msg

So what you're saying that you somehow increased the wattage by 1000 watts from 700~ watts? to 1700 watts?

See before i just thought you were mistaken on what you were saying, but now i know you're just BSing.

Even if you weren't BSing, your whole point was that people were worried about power usage and you're trying to saying since when are we worried about power usage with overly useless OCs?

People have cared about power wattage since the beginning of computers....and if what you say is true (which ultimately means by your stats you gave, you more then doubled the wattage and didn't get double the frequencies by any means) then it was horribly inefficient, not sure what it is you're trying to brag about.

It seems more like you replied to say how big your e-peen is than actual useful information.

    You didn't try Evga 780ti classified I see ;)

I love when people think they know something, but they don't :D

    PS: This is way higher....

    Running GT1 test, ~86A taken (1032W), max peak is 95A (1140W), 2500MHz 1.5V.

    Running GT1 test with higher clocks&voltage, ~105A (1260W), max peak is 112A (1344W!), 2600MHz 1.55V

    Running GT3 easier test, around 82A (~980W), max peak is 83A (1000W).

A 780 Ti Classified is a 2 x 8-pin card, which means the maximum power it can draw is 375 watts. Are you actually tell me that you exceeded the max power draw for this card?
Also, you seem to be extremely proud of consuming so much power, as if it's a good thing. Plenty of gamers here and elsewhere criticized crypto miners for needlessly wasting electricity but you make crypto miners look like angels.

You are wrong. It's "rated" for lower, but there is no problem to exceed it :) Like from the wall @ home. As long there is no bottleneck like a fuse, exceeding "rated" power for an specific cable is no problem. Yes it gets hot, and may melt if its exceeded too much :D

Out of spec is a part of overclocking :)

You didn't read my post at all. Nice try to quote, but did not read what you quoted - LOL

No problem to exceed it, LOL. A cursory look through reddit will show you numerous pictures of melted/burnt PCIe cables and adapters. I don't know about you, but I would prefer that my PCs don't catch fire in the middle of the night ;)

I've actually exceeded one of my home circuits in the past by connecting too many PCs to it, blowing out the fuse at least a couple of times (I keep some fuses handy, just in case). It's why I'm now acutely aware of how my home is wired and much power my PCs draw. And no, I would never dare try to bypass my fuse box to draw more power (like I said, fire + PC + home = bad).

There is overclocking, then there's turning what would be a 850 watt system into a 1700 watt system. Although I love high-end hardware and I'm fond of overclocking, I would never go that far.
