Too bad about the membership requirement

So overall it looks like what vulkan should have been by default.

Is it still locked for anyone? I'm able to download it without registration/whatever.
I'll test it later or tomorrow.

Since Nvidia doesn't mention any architecture specifically (like they do for some extensions), I'd take it that all these new Vulkan 1.1 Core features are supported all the way back to Kepler?

    VkPhysicalDeviceProperties:

        apiVersion     = 0x401046  (1.1.70)

Most likely yes. I don't see why they wouldn't as there's nothing there which wasn't exposed previously via NVAPI and SM6.

Lets get some benchmarks versus the newer drivers to see how these stack of not only in Vulkan games, but also in some non-Vulkan ones considering the last set of Vulkan drivers seemed to be pretty darn good.

    Anyone up to the task?

well, 3dmark api test didn't show enhanced dx11 single threaded anymore, both ST & MT are like usual.

BUT Vulkan test failed, 388.84 was ok by vulkan test. (will try windowed mode)

    EDIT: nope, Vulkan test fails.

Here is a example how main test score doesn't mean much, well unless 1fps deviation means anything, Imo only drawcalls per frame do and those are all the same, except by 391.05

    391.05 - 390.77 - w389.10 - fs389.10 - 388.84

    Edit2:
Just tried DOOM @ Vulkan mode, Fatal error :D.. I'll go back to 388.84

FATAL ERROR: vkEnumeratePhysicalDevices failed with error (VK_ERROR_INITIALIZATION_FAILED)

Have you installed the latest version of 3DMark? For me, the test goes through...but currently I have nothing to compare..

    Edit R391.05 vs. R389.10:

Currently no improvement recognizable, but not surprising without the necessary optimizations!

    Edit.

Did a advanced clear install and now Doom started, 3dmark api test too.. false alarm.

Wow, I just noticed the improvements under multi-view. Does that mean a theoretical doubling in performance for VR if is Vulkan 1.1 is used? That would be EPIC.

This was already supported using NVIDIA-specific APIs/extensions, so for any serious VR title that optimized properly, not really. Its just an extension that was moved into the core.

Yeah, the biggest new addition is the standardized crosslane shader operations (aka intrinsics). Previously this had to be implemented differently for different vendors (which lead to situations where Doom lacked them altogether on NV h/w), now the same code should work for everyone.

Damnit I was just about to go to bed until I saw this thread. Just did a clean install and will try out some benchmarks.

So no real improvement over the 388.84 drivers? Real shame. I don't know what's going on with nvidia but things have been very disappointing recently. Can they at least release a driver with identical performance to 388.84 without adding tons of new bugs? I can't use 388.84 forever as new games get graphical glitches. Right now I'm using 390.85 which performs the same as the 388.84 drivers because I'm playing final fantasy but have to put up with the flickering shadows on COD.

Personally I find it kind of pathetic that I even have to resort to using unofficial drivers. Haven't been doing this since I was on AMD.

Using 1080p I saw a small improvement in the FF IV benchmark, also in Rise of the Tomb Raider. Before I was getting a lot of random stutters, but now it seems to be a lot smoother overall. Also ran benchmarks on Time Spy, UE4 Elemental, Metro 2033, and they all ran exceptionally well. I'd say these are keepers.

389.10 is on the left? If so, then they are the clear winner.

Interesting, what drivers were you using before these? Did you notice any artifacting on FFXV (I assume that's what you meant and not final fantasy 4;))? 388.84 would artifact for me.

Edit: Gave these a try and very surprised. These are a must for anyone who plays ff15. I had fps drops on some battles in certain areas and it's completely smooth now with these drivers. I tried so many different drivers and only these give me perfect performance. Initial impression was pretty bad because I had worse draw calls compared to other drivers but don't let that fool you.
