well it is now on steam , strangely enough the .exe seems to be labeled something other than HUNT showdown when i recorded the game play using Shadowplay
after watched some videos on youtube , instant buy for me . hopefully early access performance is optimized
My alpha impressions: ++ Fantastic audio ++ Amazing map ++ Brilliant visuals ++ Enjoyable concept, although not quite there yet IMO. There needs to be more incentive to kill the boss and get the game going. Right now you'll often have everyone camping around the boss area unwilling to make the first move which doesn't make for enjoyable gameplay -- Performance, I get maybe half the FPS I should do with my PC -- Loading times, they're absolutely massive, the "waiting for other players" part is generally quick, it's the actual loading screen before which takes forever. The devs really need to work on this as I want to be able to jump in and out of games quickly, it was one of the big pluses of PUBG in the start -- Server errors, I got error x3001 a lot even though my fibre connection is rock solid and I did all the port forwarding suggestions -- Aiming feels.... off, almost like I had VSync on when I obviously didn't, the cursor movement wasn't fluid like in other shooters, it felt like I was moving in chunks -- Lack of a proper graphics menu, something along the lines of Destiny 2 or Gears of War 4 should be what PC devs are aiming for these days -- Not using the amazing humming theme on the menu! Overall the game showed me enough promise that I'm in for EA assuming it's priced well.
well here's my 1st impression pros -challenging -open world in a creepy Walking Dead-like setting -amazing visuals by cryengine -reloading is more real life rather than COD reload cons -terrible latency when shooting using a controller -loading is a fun killer -resolution in fullscreen mode doesn't allow anything higher than 1080p -random hiccups -shadows are not casting accurately
Agree with all your points, MrH. However, the server errors, ironically, weren't an issue in the closed alpha. Looking forward to see how this game plays out. One of my concerns is repetitiveness. Also hope they expand the teams to 4, or even 6. Feels a little spartan with only 2.
I like it so far but these companies need to offer a PvE/Coop only mode. It gives any game of this type a better shelf life because inevitably, this game, like every other PvP game will be full of cheaters, especially if it is popular (which it looks like it will be). There are already paid cheats out for it (no surprise).
30 hours into the game so far and I love it, but the server issues are really testing my patience. I have lost maybe 20 Hunters to the game just throwing me out mid game, or even as I extract. The devs have been working on it for days with no improvement (at least for me). If they can get the servers and performance stable this really could be the next big game, they've already sold over 100k copies which is good for EA, even with the mixed reviews on Steam (due mostly to the server errors).
How's the state of this game these days? I'm really curious about this but the persistent PvP part is quite off putting for me. Would still probably try it out at some point.
