All cards in the Radeon HD 5000 and 6000 series are now considered legacy products by AMD. AMD has officially ended driver development efforts for older, non-GCN-based Radeon cards.
This is a quick fix for the black screen caused by updating your radeon ATI drivers. So your card isn't dead yet!
This is the final Fix for the famous black startup screen issue on ati hd 5000 series with the latest crimson edition for "legacy" ati mobility radeon graphics products... the fix was tested under Windows 7 Home premium (no service pack) 64 bit - Asus N61jq laptop (i7 1.60 with turbo boost technolgy up to 2.60 ghz 1st generation - 4gb) and it Provides full support for DisplayPort to HDMI® 2.0 connections via certified dongles.
And yes; it's fully Working! finally o_O! Enjoy;)

Are they fixing something, no idea, have no affected system. Are they some kind of hack? No!

It does fix an issue on a small set of laptops that only had a dGPU and were giving blackscreens upon boot and only on Windows 7.

It won't make a difference for switchable laptop devices that have Intel / AMD graphics. Quite an old fix this is but some people look for a solution once in a blue moon.
