it is very unforgettable memories until now when 18 years ago played Tomb Raider II with SIS 6215 1MB

 

Nvidia FX 5200 - awful awful card
ATI 850Pro - flashed to XT, loved the card, great overclocker
Nvidia 7800GTX - bought second hand, horrible overclocker and power hungry, performance was ok but Bioshock performance sucked on max settings
Nvidia 8800GT - loved this card, Crysis performance was great( relatively )
Nvidia 260GTX - great card, didnt have it long though
ATI 5850 - Fantastic card for the time
2 x ATI 6870 - these sucked after the fantastic 5850, far too power hungry with minimal performance improvement
780Ti - my first expensive card, got this for VR, shame it only had 3GB ram.
980Ti - great card, worked perfect in VR, but bought an ultrawide 3440x1440 and was still limited to ~45FPS in some games like Witcher 3 on ultra with no hairworks
1080Ti - very happy with this card, can finally play @3440x1440 on ultra( not maxed AA or anything )

-GeForce 4 Ti4800 SE (Innovision), problematic, because this OEM is the worst of all manufacturers - due to the mistake in design, the card was not equipped with the 4-pin power connector, thus it relied solely on AGP which was not enough, so in most demanding games I experienced frequent blackouts, until the "remedy" was found in switching the turbo mode off (thanks to Riva Tuner). Problem was FINALLY solved by DIY added female molex, though by then, I lost a kilo of my nerves). The inno's "tech support" was just a bad joke - they had no clue at all, and it took me few long, long months of research before I stumbled upon a suggestion made by a certain experienced British PC enthusiast who realized, after carefully studying my descriptions of the problem, what was going on (nVidia was the main culprit, since according to their - WRONG - estimation the card did not need any external power, but inno's job was to test the final product before it hit the shelves).
How bitterly I regretted my decision to not to keep Siluro when I sold my previous machine (and I was wrong when I expected a jump in efficiency)! Titanium?! No, Sir - pure $hittanium.

-GeForce FX5900XT (Prolink) - very stable, very overclockable; came with the nice tiny LCD that showed the GPU's temperature and the (RPM) speed of the fan
-GeForce 6600 (Asus) - extremely overclockable
-GeForce 9800 (Asus) - hot, but still substantially overclockable
-GeForce 470 (Gainward) - hot like hell, yet stable. Produced loud noises ("clicks"), from time to time, caused by some mistake in BIOS in relation with the fan's speed controler. Problem was solved soon enough, by flashing the newer BIOS.
-GeForce 770 (Asus, Direct Cu II) - very stable, reasonably overclockable

-1060 (MSI) - so far, so good

So far I'm the only one who experimented with Matrox

 

Backten here where I live Matrox cards were 3x to 5x more expencive than other poor man's "gaming cards" and they didn't offered almost none performance gain in games, most of the times they were even slower in 3D compared to few times cheaper graphics cards for masses. iirc Matrox cards had better DAC and thus better colors reproduction but not a single gamer I knew backthen was using Matrox card, they were just way to overpriced for gamers budget here.

It wasn't any more expensive then, and I did adore the 2D graphics on it. At the time the card was the only one supporting Bump Mapping, and I played a couple of games that supported it. At the time the card was on par with other gamer cards. I later upgraded to the "new" 2nd gen 280 cards (the 285), which I later added a 2nd for SLI.
