    Hi everyone.
I was wondering, does anybody has any experience with tweaking the memory voltage on the maxwell bios editor ?
Its the last slider on the voltage tab that is set to 1.2v.
I have an evga 970 SSC acx2 with a hynix memory which oc so and so, only hitting 3900. Anything above that would cause artifacts.
By raising the memory voltage from 1.2 to 1.218 on the maxwell bios tweaker, I was able to put 60mhz more on my mem (3960) without any artifacting. My question is, does anyone has a rough Idea how far I can push that slider while it still being considered safe? Since I don't have a temp sensor on the memory, its kind of a shot in the dark for me....1.218 (where I'm at now ) is prob OK, but does anyone have any experience with it? How far I can push it ? Would love to reach 4000mhz, or more if possible on the mem, and if my hynix can do it, raising the voltage is the only way...
    Thanks !

The data sheet for Hynix GDDR5 shows ~1.35 as the max operating voltage. Temperature and Mhz will be your issue before you get that high on the memory voltage.

So just an update for whoever is interested.
Managed to get my mem to finally run at a stable 4001mhz @ 1.243 mem voltage. This is awesome as it only could do 3900 with the stock 1.2v. I honestly thought I won't be able to run it at 4000, so that's great. It might even go a bit more, but as I'm very happy with 4000, and the gain will probably be marginal at best, for the time being, I'm not even gonna try to push it more.
Temps did go up a bit, especially noticed on idle, where it showed around 4c more, but that's fine by me.
Im running an aggressive fan curve , plus I have a 120mm side case fan which is set to 100% and constantly blows directly on the card.
Even though the voltage is safe, since I don't have an icx cooler card, I can't really know the actual temps of the memory, so its kind of a shot in the dark in that aspect, I'll just hope for the best.
So bottom line, whoever wants to try and push his memory more, as long as his card isn't hard locked at the stock 1.2v for the mem can def experiment with it.

Interesting, thanks! I got crappy vram too and it couldn't be stable anything over 100MHz.

Well, I tried it yesterday and now its ok at 400MHz+,
I was more conservative and used only 1.225v, this made it ok at 1855MHz - real 7420MHz (bios flashed, before 1775MHz).
    >>>>>356GB/s.

I also tested how far I can push it at 1.225v and it failed at 1905MHz - real 7620MHz.
1890MHZ - 7560MHz real is ~ 362.5GB/s, this would be ideal and enough for me.. Nearly 30GB/s increase from stock, hopefully this passes ok.

edit: Best quick test to test vram OC is 3dmark 2011 (extreme mode) test2 and test4, 3dmark Skydiver, 3dmark firestrike (standard mode) test2,. Shows it sooner then lets say Unigine Heaven or Vally.. (10-30sec vs 3-5min :D)

When I tested above max 1905MHz it freezed in 3dmark Skydiver (test1), with stock volts and lets say 1850MHz it would either TDR/freeze or have red square artifacts.. any 3dmark test, especially 3dmark 2011 (red artifacts) and Skydiver (freeze, tdr, and red artifacts test2).

Will see now how it goes if I OC gpu core further, this was with "stock" boost 1418MHz. I know before I could do 1460MHz and vram 1805MHz (real 7220MHz - amp extreme default vram speed) anything more on vram and red artifacts.. E.g. 3dmark 2011, Firestrike or Timespy could do 1470-1475MHz with same vram speed.

For example with newer R382+, especially R387+ I had to lower my flashed 7220MHz to ~7120MHz or it would red artifact even at 1460MHz in 3dmark 2011 X.

    Edit2:

    Guess it works @ 1890MHz - 7560MHz, ok 60MHz to spare until 7620MHz.

Will play more with this 7560MHz vramOC to see if its 1000% ok, then I'll just flash this instead, even better :)

    edit3:
    1890MHz 362.5GB/s made a bit lower results compared to 1855MHz, so I settled with 1880MHz.. 361GB/s

In the end I had to lower to 7360MHz or 30MHz lower with extra gpu OC 1450MHz+. Still ok I guess at 353.5GB/s vs originally 356.

Yes, but I had to raise to 1.231v for 1860MHz (7440MHz) with combo max gpu oc.

I didn't really see any temp. Change, have a beefy cooler :)

    And you, still ok?

I always remember that there was a debate concerning the vram voltage and the last slider in MBT.
But if it is confirmed that it actually is vram voltage then that's cool! My 980 vram also does not break 7700mhz limit. Maybe raising the last slider value can make it push further.

Sorry for necropost but this seems to be the imc voltage and not the dram voltage. And because ususally a 5% is safe the max voltage must be 1.26

Doing a 4-way project on mine.

4ghz(8ghz effective) is prettie awesome overclock, my highest is like 3780mhz(7560mhz effective)

And yes, 3 of them are hynix, one is samsung.

I have used maxwell bios edior, lots of stuff in there, good stuff.

I had to revert all 4 cards back to stock cause even with my dual psu setup, it gave up, now works like a champ, gpu are running at 1506/7560(memory).

The highest in a single gpu configuration while the other 3 cards are not in the system, I have gotten high as a lil over 1600mhz+(GPU CORE) and completely stable, f'in fast.

    here's a link to my 4-way gtx 970 project:
