Ok I do not know what happend but will try and explain what my system is doing maybe someone can point-out the problem for me? Start system all of a sudden I notice I am running 32-bit windows 10 WHY is that? How do I switch to 64-bit? Once I start windows looking at task manager it takes a good 2-3 minutes for all my desktop icons to pop-up,It never did that before as soon as you log-on all your icons schould come-up correct? Is this a virus cause I tried melware bytes and everything seems to be ok on my end. My system is rather old Fx 8320e and the motherboard is Ancient Asus m5a78L usb 3.0 Video card-Nvidia Gtx 980 with newest driver installed. Thanks guys.If I cant fix I will just go back to windows 7 screw this.
You can press <Win>+<Break> to go to (old) System properties page of Control panel. There should be written the bit-ness of OS. May be in page About in new Settings is written too. Also the way for PowerShell: run PowerShell, enter or paste Code: [System.Environment]::Is64BitOperatingSystem and press <Enter>
Ok I followed your instructions and it says I am running windows-64 bit. Then why in task-manager is everything saying 32-bit? I do not get it.I am sorry for all the dumb questions also.
May be paste a screenshot here. Also as an alternative to task manager you can use Process Explorer https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer
A 64-bit operating system can still run 32-bit apps (it's why there is a "Program Files" folder and "Program Files (x86)" folder - the former is 64-bit apps and the latter is 32-bit apps).
May I help you? What version of windows 10 are you running? 1607? 1703? 1709 fall creator? Just hit Windows+R type winver, and let us know which version is: Because in version 1703 creator the Desktop came with Glitches where icons disappear when moving from side to side, also this options cause issue: Also sometimes Windows 10 Desktop can become corrupted icons and you can clear the icons-cache to see if that solve your problem go to folder options check the Show hidden files, folder and drives Them press Windows key +r type APPDATA and go to local, them find the IconCache.DB delet it and reboot your pc and see if that make things better
I will let you guys know what version I am running as soon as I can get on the desktop,Thank you so much btw!!! Yes I have a major issue with the icons not showing up sometimes at all,also...Everything all of a sudden has a delay to it example you launch a game it takes 3-5 minutes to start, whenever it feels like it. Iam like ok wtf is this now. Almost punched one of my monitors but I know better at this age I gotta replace it then haha.
If it's an old system with a mechanical HDD and a good few things in start-up then it can take a while for desktop icons to display on boot Do some HDD tests too, check the drive is OK (CrystalDiskInfo)
I have those problems in 1709, inlcuding taskbar/start menu bugged! I guess you are one of us now. Go back to 1703. And im running on SSD btw.
I am running windows 10 on ssd yes.I have 4 drives total 2 ssd 2 hdd. Still havent had a xhance to make it to desktop.
Ok lets see.....It is version 1709 exactly like you guys said,How do I go about getting a diffrent version do I need to pay for it or? Cause honestly as it stands the Pc is not even usable anymore how bad it is honestly! No wonder it was a free upgrade lol.
https://tb.rg-adguard.net/index.php All use the same license so no need to pay for different versions of 10
Well looks like my only option as of now is to go back to windows 7 -How in the world did Microsoft mess up windows so bad with this update? I would rather use 7 if there is no fix but I want to thank you guys for all your hard work and time, You guys are the Best!!!
Try reinstalling Windows 10 - it's possible that your installation is messed up. Create a bootable USB using the media creation tool, wipe your drive, and reinstall fresh.
Yep like said the "32-bit" just indicates the particular program is 32-bit (that actually tells you you are running 64-bit Windows, 32-bit Windows doesn't show 32-bit separately). If you did an in-place upgrade then do a clean install as suggested above and see if the issue persists. Media Creation tool can be found from: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691209
Get an SSD, even 60gb is worth it. Install clean fresh Windows 10 64bit, slap updates on top of it. Tweak, Turn off junk via - example BlackBird/ Toggle Tweaker / Debloat Win10.
Actually Windows 1709 Falls Creator update are presenting issues with the Memory in Stand-by it seems that Windows is not managing properly the ram on certains apps and games, you can read here: In this topic above de page 120 you can tell Alejandro Guzman from NVIDIA among Sora and others members reporting about Memory Problems So a Temporary fix is using this tool: EmptyStandbyList <---------- Software Url: https://wj32.org/wp/software/empty-standby-list/ reference post: https://forums.geforce.com/default/...-fps-drops-since-windows-10-creators-update/1 PS: So try that, otherwise back to Windows 10 version Anniversary 1607 seems the most stable also the Windows 10 1511 too are very recommended. Cheers :')
