Call of Duty: WWII PC surpassed $500 million in sell-through 1st three days

Amazing considering there is only 6000 people online playing in steam. Could this be fake news ?

 

Am I reading it wrong or is this about either PS4 or a combination of all consoles? Either way the numbers seem pretty normal for that franchise but if it is in fact PC then I call bullshit.

 

I know we are PC Gods but there are many peasants who still play console

 

It peaked at 55k so far, it will only increase. 46k in multiplayer and 9k in singleplayer. It's clearly doing much better than anything after BO2 has done so far. 500m seems to be for all plats, not PC.

 

Darn those pirates, Activision could've gotten a billion easy without all the PC pirates!

Yes it is fake news from Guru3D actually, because $500 million is across all platforms where as Guru3D article makes it look like it's from PC only sales.

 

I would find $500 million to be an over-estimation when accounting for all platforms even if the game were released for 2 weeks. But $500 million for just PC in 3 days? There's no way that could be right. Assuming each copy of the game was sold for $60, that would be 8.3 million people who got it. CoD4, which was one of the most popular of its series, sold 15.7 million copies across all platforms throughout its existence (so that also includes times the game was on sale). Modern Warfare 3, to my knowledge, is the most successful game of the franchise, and sold 26 million copies. The franchise started losing popularity pretty quickly after that, and I personally haven't noticed much hype around this game, so for PC alone to be this successful in such a short amount of time sounds really suspicious, even if it accounts for in-game sales.
