Oh I have to say I'm surprised, but other than apparently his leaving, it tells little about why and what made him decide to leave.
Senior management like his position, they are never fired in the same way you or I would be. They are asked to resign and if they do not resign, they are formerly terminated. As was stated no other information has surfaced on the subject so have to take him at his word. One company had the misfortune to work for sent you your pink slip while out on administrative leave. Another company did not have the guts to fire you face to face...hired an on call hatchet guy for that.
What now Raja fangays SoBayed!? https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/a...up-raja-koduri-takes-sabbatical.416807/page-2 There are no long-term vacations after disappointment.
It's not that simple. We will probably never know if he actually f*cked up, or is taking the fall for the team's f*ck-up, or even the company's f*ck-up.
It was his responsibility. Nor shareholders, nor consumers, nobody care who actually messed up. All care about numbers. So once numbers are bad, you are looking for the person who is responsible for it.
And if you can't find one (due to collective f*ck-ups) then you need someone to take the fall. You can't go to investors and say "we all suck." Someone has to take the blame.
sad to see , though not unexpected, radeon`s budget was cut right around the launch of hawaii if i recall correctly, vega is essentially the result of lacking budget, he probably did as good a job as anyone, but the shareholders/board needs someone to blame as always.
Had a feeling his sabbatical would involve leaving AMD at a later point in time. He couldnt leave AMD just after the vega launch since it would not look good for the product or AMD. Several weeks had to pass to allow him and AMD to make that choice appear less connected to the vega launch.
Well that's sad. Wasn't Navi his work? It's a little bit sad to see that he was fired before the release of navi. Anyway I just see 2 things with this. 1. He took the damage for Vega, even dispite it's probably not his fault, since it's not his product anyway, but he was in front of the GPU division so he ends up with the blame. 2. Navil will suck.. Let's hope it's just the first one, dispite it's very unfair.
