DDU hasn't been blocking Windows from automatically installing Nvidia drivers lately. Is there something wrong with DDU or did a Windows Update bork this?

DDU block device manager from searching Windows update.
DDU doesn't block windows update from downloading /installing a driver.
Yeah I know, it can be confusing.

Alright. I guess its not a big deal, I'm just confused cause for me it always prevented windows from automatically installing the driver until about a week ago.

if you want to stop it from happening

    2 things you can try/do

    Code:
    Gpedit.msc

Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Windows Update "Do not include drivers with Windows Updates"
Which "Should" stop WU from find drivers.
    I have this enabled

    Code:
    Gpedit.msc

Computer Configuration>Administrative Template>System>Drivers Installation>Driver Installation restriction>"Prevent Installation of Devices using drivers that match these device setup classes"
this will stop installs(warning this will prevent manual installs too but it will stop driver updates that bypass wu all together)

    To get the GUID

    Device manager> "gpu name">proprieties>details>propety>Class GUID
I was using this it is currently not thought, I want to see if above works as advertised.

I running 375.70 drivers still and WU has not found or installed drivers since.
As stated above there are times when GPU drivers update completely bypass WU the GUID trick will fix that permanently with side effect of you will have to disable it to manual install drivers.

Today a try using DDU last version (i use DDU from long time ago) with latest windows 10 insiders version (updated yesterday). and it killed my windows 10 installation. the only thing that recovered my windows was using go back to latest version.

DDU doesnt officially support the Insider preview. Also it is quite possible that the issue you had is a Windows one too.

If you still have the DDU logs, it could be helpful

well. maeby it was related to the safe mode. but its a bad idea use DDU with that version of windows.

The log folder is empty. everything ocured after the restart process. even in the recovery process it was showing and C++ error.

Then it's a windows issue as DDU is not made in C++

I can confirm its a windows issue, their Safe mode is broken.
For anyone stuck in the bsods, when windows give you the choice to go in advanced and open a command prompt,
    type:

    bcdedit /deletevalue {default} safeboot

This should allow to boot back in normal mode.

I used this software before installing my last set of drivers and now some windows will not open. Sony Vegas 14 window will not open now and after sending their support team the error reports they said it was a problem with my video settings or drivers.

What would driver cleaner remove to cause this?

Could be an issue with the new driver you installed, try to go back. To the last working one

Hello, I have a problem using DDU in Windows 7 (safe mode). I launch the application and click "Cleanup and restart", there is a notification "Starting cleanup" and then nothing happens. Latest version of DDU and latest drivers from Nvidia.

Please send me the logs at wagnard28@gmail.com (they are located inside the DDU folder)

My friend kept getting "data error" when extracting his Nvidia driver packages and we had no clue what was going on.

Told him to run DDU, rebooted into Windows and unpacked the driver without any issues.

This is by far the best program on the web!

    Hey Wagnard!

First of all, I'd like to thank you for this amazing tool! I've been using it for quite a while now.

Second, I'd like to report a minor issue I've experienced with the latest version of DDU (17.0.7.6). I made sure to do two cleanups - one in safe mode and one in normal mode as a workaround for the issue with the new Task Scheduler in FCU. However, there appear to be some leftover files in both Program Files (NVFBCplugin64.dll and license.txt) and Program Files (x86) (NVFBCplugin.dll). The cache folders stored in C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Local didn't get removed too.
