Ok so the 8th generation Intel Core i series (named Coffee Lake) is now “officially” launched.

However initial stock seem mostly non-existent.

    Has anyone found/purchased one?

Once they are available this should be the place to discuss the processors and related hardware.

I am currently putting together a m-ITX build centered around a 8700k, my 1080ti and a Lian Li PC-05S case.

Anyone else have plans to build based on Coffee Lake-s?

BTW: I will try my best to keep this OP updated as more info is available and more users get there hands on the CPU's.

Also should we start a user list on this?

OP update 18/11/17: CPU’s seem to be more available as of now and motherboard BIOS’s are becoming more mature.

As of now you are almost guaranteed 5.0Ghz stable at 1.35-1.36V on any chip. Deliding is a must to push higher. Will update OP later with deliding pictures when I get my tool and LM. Until next update.

Still debating one of two options. 1. i7 7820K with X299 or the 8700K with z370. Looks like heat is going to be an issue either way...Actually the z370 / 8700K is a bit of a cheaper option...rumor that Coffee Lake should be more available toward end of October...

    Same I’ve heard about availability.

7820x and x299 is just too much money over 8700k/z370 for not a whole lot more performance. I get it 8 more PCI lanes and quad channel RAM but I would not use it so it seems like a waste of $400-550 more dollars in my case.

Agree with you there! The premium $$$ is probably NOT worth the x299.

X299 needs a price drop OR needs a newer release of coffee lake based CPUs.

X299 6 core is more expensive and slower than 8700k

a so because most people didnt upgrade to coffie lake or out of stock no one reply to my tread
im trying overclock the 8700K and put static voltage ok. when i done testing voltage i tryed find adaptive voltage for voltage start to drop down but i cant found on Gigabyte z370 aorus ultra gaming board...
adaptive only enabled when i put cpu voltage to normal then i can set the offset but then voltage still jumps, at normal its like auto so its not stik at lower voltage that it shoud.
so wait for new bios updates?

As soon as I can get my hands on the 8600k a mobo and 16gb DDR4 I'll be joining this club. May be a couple months at this rate!

Have you tried adjusting the Vcore LLC? It may need some more BIOS updates though. The power delivery is supposedly different on the new boards.

Looking at your manual there is not adaptive voltage per-say. What happens when you set the static voltage for the over clock then enable Voltage optimization?

i did all core enhasment so all cores at 4.7 above that i need deleet the cpu die and set load line calibration to standart (1 of 3 the goes high and turbo)

Tired of waiting for the 8700k so i bought a 8400 to use until i get it. My old build is going in my plex server (the old q9550 could not transcode 4k or even high bitrate 1080p, so the 4790k is going to fix that).
X299 and 7820x was in my mind but the mesh bus architecture just hurts gaming too much.
Will post benchmarks on the 8400 and compare it with 8700k whenever i can get hold of one.
Edit: Oh the irony, now my supplier got a small quantity of 8700k in stock so that is on it's way and should arrive over the weekend. I may end up with both cpu's, oh well more fun to test.

I just got finished with a chat session at Newegg. Here is what they said on the 8700K:

"Our records show that the ETA of the CPU is 12/7 with the Delivery Window: 12/05/17~12/11/17."

    Ugh.

Edit: I clicked refresh 5 minutes later, and it showed in stock. I quickly placed an order. 5 minutes later, it was out of stock again. But the order processed, and it's in the packaging phase. Maybe I got lucky. lol!

If you did end up getting one lucky you. I've been checking all week. GN said next week is what they heard.

First come first serve at Newegg. I'm checking all day today.

I think I'm gonna go ahead and order my DDR4 and 960EVO today.

I'm currently waiting for them to stock up at my local Microcenter and then they will usually have a sales with $30 off the processor and another $30 off buying with a compatible motherboard. So I should be able to save up to $60... just have to wait a bit longer. Current system is still good so I can wait a bit.

The same Microcenter that was selling 8700k's for $500? Good luck.

Well 16GB (2x8GB) of G.Skill 3600Mhz 16CL RAM, 500GB Samsung 960EVO NVMe M.2 drive and 1TB Intel 600p NVMe M.2 drive (for games) all on the way. It really hurts dropping ~$700 on four "sticks" of memory.

Actually Microcenter doesn't have the 8700k listed at all. Like I say, once they have enough stock, they will put it out in the 'combo' price. Still running a i7-6700k so I can wait.

Microcenter was selling them for $500 when they had them in stock. If rumors are true you will not be seeing enough stock for them to sell at MSRP much less a $30 off sale anytime this year or likely Q1 next year.
