That's quite an old driver branch, probably around November 2016... what does DXDiag show on the Display tab , i.e. driver version and date?

Do you really have version 23.20.768.12 from 9/27/2017 12:00:00 AM?
    No, it's not - I have a R9 290X with this driver and DXDIAG reports WDDM 2.3.

That looks to be the cab for the Catalyst Control Panel software and support files, not the driver itself.

    You're right.

Thought that because it was updated yesterday, it would be the latest available.

Just checked, its a 22....something version.

WU again, and now it's downloading the 27/9/2017 one.

Thanks, it works on my R9 290 under build 17004 with WDDM 2.3. No idea why they wouldn't offer it though WinUpdate on the Skin ahead branch. Kept the Control Center from 17.9.3, seems like there's no conflict. It's missing that GPU Workload weird option but whatever.

From comparing the profile file against 17.9.3 there's some interesting differences. :)

The Chill black and white listing test profiles are different, whitelist test profile doesn't exist at all and the blacklist one is found lower in the converted .xml file.

The Chill profiles for Shadow of Mordor 2 (Shadow of War), Total War Warhammer 3 and Destiny 2 are also not in this driver.

Up next in the XML is the Crossfire profile flags, here the flag for Battlefield One is different and there's new flags for Battlefront 2 (2017), Endless Enemies and Shadow of War.

After that there's the DXX section which shows differences to The Climb and Destiny 2 with additions of Shadow of War and Evil Within 2 here.

A while further down there's a new OpenGL property added to the Metro Last Light Redux profile for Linux and there's one for GRID Autosport too.

And below that the profile for Call of Duty World War 2 has been re-ordered so the MP exe is above the SP exe now, this likely doesn't mean anything though, just the way the profiles are in the files with no impact on the actual game.

There's a "HighPerfGPUAffinity" flag for Breakaway and Cuphead and Fable Fortune below that.
(Forza Motorsport 7 already had a flag for this but in this driver it's moved down a bit, again this probably means nothing.)

There's also a flag for Nishuihan targeting GacRunnerNG.exe, I'm not too sure what game or software this is and there's a profile for this for Raiders of the Broken Planet and a title called Longhunshike.

Below those the profile for Project Cars 1 was moved down a bit too.

Following all these there's more HighPerfGPUAffinity flags with the next being for DaVinci Resolve and then Ruiner.
(Evil Within 2 flag below these was also moved down a bit.)

Then there's one for Tianyu both for a retail and a beta exe and next to that there's a profile for The Long Dark too.

In the 17.9.3 drivers next up was the Chill white and black list profiles but the white list one isn't part of this driver and the black list profile was moved down a bit.

And finally there's more exe names linking up these profiles to executables for the new Crossfire profiles. :)

So here we have TEW2.exe identified also via Steam and launching Steamappid:601430 for The Evil Within 2

And then there's starwarsbattlefrontii.exe and what I guess is dev names Main_Win64_final.exe and Main_Win64_final_retail.exe for Star Wars Battlefront 2

Next up is EndlessEnemies_DX11.exe for Endless Enemies (API exe name? D3D12 or Vulkan support planned for this game then?) and then ShadowOfWar.exe for Middle Earth Shadows of War. :)

..Shadow of War also has a DXX profile for Kraken_*.exe (Work/dev name I guess.) and the Steam Steamappid:356190 identifier. :D

EDIT: Longer post than I thought, several new games having had that HighPerfGPUAffinity flag for I think it's set to choose a dedicated GPU over a integrated APU if one of these exist avoiding the game going dumb (Or the drivers, perhaps.) and trying to run some more demanding 3D application on the iGPU. :)

A few new Crossfire profiles too though, perhaps 17.10.1 will see this all merged up in the next beta driver release possibly with the driver branch update to 17.40.xx and WDDM 2.3 support too for RS3's release?

Well they do want that Shadow of War profile out with the game coming out soon, Evil Within 2 after that too.

Why don't you just download regular Windows 10 APU driver version 22.19.662.4 (release 17.7.2, July 2017) from AMD?

    http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/apu?os=Windows+10+-+64

No, it's just an outdated driver. A10-7860K is barely a 'legacy card', this APU was released in February 2016 and it uses GCN2-based R7 graphics (feature level 12_0).
