Well if it happened only once, dont worry. I also had random pc shutdowns / restarts, bsod's. Mostly due to bad OC.

Little update on my side i just tried to turn my pc on, it powered on, but after 2 sec it was off again, and then on again all good now.
Could this be a memory problem ?

    bro !! try memtest
if you have 2 stick of ram ( try one stick at a time all loops)
after this you try same ram but different channel

and after this try same but with the other stick

Or memory training thingy, it can happen by bad shutoff or if you disconnect psu and turn it back on.

Also this hardreset can indeed be bad voltage, cpuv too loe or svid or cache or system agent voltage issue. Or even digi+ power settings (llc, cpu power phase %)..

Check your memory timings, cpu, and fsb speeds. Good chance they chanced after that reboot you described.

Gotta test things to find bad component as it could be virtually anything.

P.S. Damn you Superman, I said leave him alone!

first is your system overclocked? if yes then you know what to do. I doubt its power supply though

What about cpu cooler and your cpu temps.

I see you have a Corsair cooler....check your temps and if you feel brave dismantle the cooling block....im guessing its clogged with lime scale like mine was after only a few months use.

Check what part of your mobo temp2 is reading. Have you tried running
HWMonitor to isolate where the high temps are....might be pch reading

Clear cmos to see if the on/off/on isuue persists.
Then you can load optimized defaults and fine tune your bios options.

on/off will only circle when cpu is overclocked.
    temp2 is link's bug.

a reboot without a bsod is usually power related, most cases i had was psu.
good idea for any pc over 500$ is a ups. not so much for backup time, but avr function and covering short brownouts that can cause problems. worth 60-100$.

i've seen up to +30 events in 6 weeks during storm season (1s to few min)
with a ups connected its also easy to exclude the house/voltage fluctuation etc.

if it turns on and short off before booting is another thing failing psus produce. at least the last 4 from myself/friends showed that short time before completely going out.

    This ^

Not only it's a protection, it as well stabilizes the current which is fantastic. Spend 100$, potentially save 1000$.

    Thats a decent one.
BUT (;-)), just make sure to NOT run extensively on battery.
Output isnt "real"-sinus wave (ac output and what psus "like"), and might shorten psu life a little.
Had 3 different platinum rated ones that started acting up after 3-4y (before warranty was over) and since switching to pure-sinus unit im at +5y running same unit without trouble.

Once you got some money to spend, look for cyberpower unit with "white" lcd screen (800/1000/1200VA), maybe check local microcenter for a sale, and use the other one to run monitor/router/dvr etc...

    Hello,
Just try a simple thing... unplug and replug everything : memory sticks, all power connectors and so on.
Sometimes contacts fails and may crash the system

Btw spontaneous reboot is not always bad psu. But yeah im my case it was OC fault, maybe by you some auto voltage..

Specifically cache voltage ustable, cpu power current (vrm) and input voltage too low.

Yes if you are using XMP or something, you could be lacking(or have too much) voltage for some options.
