Cinebench scores can not be compared to gaming performance.
My Ryzen 1700 with the stock 200Mhz XFR boost gets around 1400 also, but the singlecore perfomance on my Ryzen is probably lower then your 6700k, making your CPU faster in allot of games.
I would not buy a 8700k if i had a 6700K already unless you are streaming or something that uses the last 2 cores.

Doubt it, but finally people with quad cores have something worth upgrading to.
    Wile costing a kidney.

    Wow....

and I quote..."The Core i5-8600K will cost $300, which is a lot more expensive than the current Core i5-7600K's $240. However, you get more L3 cache and the core count goes up to six cores from four, which will likely mean it outperforms the current mainstream flagship, the Core i7-7700K by big margins, despite costing less."

that i5 is looking good on paper....

why Processors getting so expansive day by day When its load of work getting less day by day.All most all the software, games and other stuffs using GPU now.CPU is just left for Booting system. Then why not they put CPU on Graphic card board along side GPU die.

if the i7 8700K can run cooler than maybe it will be a good chip, cos i am fed up with claims the i7-7700k at 4.9 and 5 ... cos the internet is full of these chips running at really high temps and therefore useless claim for most unless they got a special chip!
Help yourself and google i7-7700k heat issues :D

    ^ Definitely.

CPUs are getting harder and harder to manufacture with each die shrink, which means they're more expensive to manufacture. As to why we'd want more CPU performance, some need it for streaming or recording, some for bragging rights, or some for CPU bound games like Kerbal Space Program and other physics based games. There is still need for more CPU performance, just less so than before.

Depend what quad core You have on mind.
From 6700K/7700K I see no reason to upgrade CPU unit, plus platform. Not for gamming.
I think all people who plan to buy intel CPU's, and planning overclock it (in good way) - they should delid it!
Intel and AMD both play dirty. They are corporations, not a loyalty organization.
That times we have right now.. All of You can accept it or not. Get AMD CPU or whatever U like.
