The problem for AMD is Nvidia hype use to be supported by real gaming performance on release.

I have used a 1070 for 6 months now and runs way over the ti numbers without extra cooling but i do set constant fan in afterburner,but i can get 2069mhz on core and 8996mhz on memory stable so hopefully when they do release a bios we can update the 1070 vanilla too a ti without too many issues

 

Yeah, BIOS update should upgrade your GPU and create shiny new 512 CUDA cores. Technology is amazing these days.

 

Anyone know when volta is supposed to be released to consumers? I might get this to replace my gtx970 if its a long time off.

However, I do have low fps in some games at the highest details on 1080p. I am thinking of going to 1440p and while I do know that the 1070/Ti are much faster than a 970, I don't know if it will be good enough for 1080p@144hz or 1440p.

 

My Evga 1070FTW boosts to 2012 out of the box, not worth losing a heap of money selling it to spend even more money on a card thats a little faster, that being said it`ll be a nice upgrade for those moving from a 980ti. Hopefully this might drop the 1070 prices so i can pick up a second but knowing that some e-tailers are still charging £650 and over for the 1070 they might bump the TI up to £750.

 

This will not tempt 980ti users at all 970/780ti users are the target for this card. It looks like a great card just that memory bandwidth.

 

Jesus, that bandwidth myth still going strong. Memory bandwidth is a pure legend nowadays. Irrelevant for anything that matters.

Oh ok. Also if I remember correctly the 560 ti 446 core was close to a stock 570 in terms of performance. Also I am sure that there are some people out there that will mod the BIOS for more power and better overclocking.

 

Unfortunately neither of those things are gonna happen either for my GTX 1070 nor yours! Firstly, GTX 1070ti has 27% more cores than our GTX 1070, and your overclock is not gonna be making up that difference (and 1070ti will overclock too of course). Secondly, it's a different card to our GTX 1070, you're not gonna be able to flash a GTX 1070ti vBIOS to your GTX 1070 & turn it into a GTX 1070ti - you might turn it into a brick instead, but who wants a brick when you really need it to be a GPU!

 

Nooo, don't do it! I wouldn't bother with adding another GTX 1070, just get a Volta when they come out next year. I reckon if I had a 980ti I still wouldn't upgrade to GTX 1070ti, it's not a massive difference, those 980ti's overclock quite well too - overclocked 980ti and overclocked GTX 1070 are already pretty close in performance - I'd say 980ti owners could wait till Volta or go 1080ti instead, nothing else is worth it in my eyes.

 

I see some people here can't get there fact straight.
Let look at performance side both card that will depend on DirectX version, In terms of performance the RX Vega 64 is on-par if not a tab faster depend on the game vs the GTX 1080 in DX12 where the RX Vega 64 is mostly sub-par to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 in performance is with DX11 games even with Vulkan API it is at lease up to on-par if not a bit faster then the GTX 1080.
Keep in mind as the game code and drivers get better optimize for the Vega core the performance will increase over time with further improvement.
Now the GTX 1080 Ti that a different matter then yes it much faster.
But if going be buy a new video now then the RX Vega 64 is bad deal your better off purchasing the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti as only a little bit more.

I sure some of you will say but the Vega runs hot that funny so do the GTX 1080 and to me your point is moot hog wash when come this all the review I look at in some case as one dose better then other or the other way round, If it was something like 15/20c different then all have something to whine about it even I would agree with you on that one.
Now as Power Consumption different is to me about $3/5 different over the GTX 1080 is not going break the bank but if was dbl that then yes I would agree you all have a good point in that.

I think it might be a little higher however that still will sit in the GTX 1070's current price point, which pretty much means a guaranteed price drop for the normal 1070 along with it.

It's sort of like Nvidia are doing a two pronged attack on Vega 56, they'll have the 1070ti that cost slightly more than the 56 but kills it while having the normal 1070 at a lower price point & offering comparable performance.

However I'm a bit concerned that the 1070 ti might mean Volta will probably take longer than expected, I doubt they'd even bother with the 1070 ti if Volta was due in the next 6 months so we are probably talking about late next year rather than earlier.

It's a nice jump from your 1070 FTW then also if it is a nice move from 1070 ti. Only things I would consider atm is 1080+ upwards performance. My card will lose to a Vega 56 oc'd because that card beats stock 1080 then.

 

Just checked this, because 40% seemed like too much difference. 320/256*100 = 1.25 So, GTX 1080 only has 25% more bandwidth than GTX 1070 & GTX 1070ti. You can also make up a large chunk of that remaining 25% by overclocking the VRAM to bring it into better balance - I'm at 293GB/s on my GTX 1070 so only 9% away from GTX 1080 bandwidth. This means that overclocking the VRAM on GTX 1070ti is probably gonna be the first thing you want to do for the biggest gains, considering that the core performance is gonna be very close to GTX 1080 it'll need that extra VRAM bandwidth.
