Well, that depends if you actually NEED an upgrade. I wouldn't consider upgrading if you using PC just for internet browser, M$ office or minecraft.

As for more demanding gaming, CPU is fine unless you reaching for 144fps.
The only part that requiring upgrade is GPU.

What's your monitor? If you still on 1080p, I'd recommend checking some high refresh rate 1440p panels.
Upgrading monitor and GPU would be good move.

Agree with sverek. Get a GPU upgrade and a monitor to go with it.

Grab a 1080ti and call it a day, sir. Or even a 1070.

As others have said, a new GPU should be all you need. I upgraded from a 780 to a 1080 and it changed my gaming life forever ;)

In some games it could be, but 1080ti will be a huge upgrade either way.

    I wouldn't stress it.

It all depends on what you would like to do/play.
If you play mostly strategy games and just general use, it is still good.
If you want the newest aa games in full 4k/ultrawide and/or 100-144hz glory you need a full upgrade with a 1080ti to match.
For a middle ground buy a 1070-1080ti (the new 1070ti looks promising) and see if that is enough and maybe upgrade cpu with coffee lake or a a ryzen in the future if needed.

My dad uses a Sandy 2600k and its fast, also since it has a GPU on the CPU your desktop 2D performance is soo smooth
