    Maybe. But where :S
    I know i broke one of the screws in the spacer on the cooling block (aweful quality on the screws that came with the kit this time). But is that enough?
    Also didn't fit the backplate.

    The vega is boosting really low. Mine will touch on 1600mhz @ 1000mv (down from stock 1200mv)

    It works now btw. Mounted the waterblock again yesterday and for some reason it works. Only thing i did different was mounting the backplate as well.
    Down from 83 degrees celcius to 43 during furmark 1440 preset at stock clocks.

    I got my EKWB on yesterday without the backplate (don't beleive it helps cooling, more hinders it).
    It works just fine :)

    After faffing for an hour or so, I got this.
    +5% Boost on the GPU @ 1170mV for P6 and P7
    +50% Power
    HBM at 1100MHz, at 1060mV.
    Target and Max temps set at 85°C.

    I got an almost stable boost clock of 1684MHz (down to 1675MHz sometimes at the beginning and end of scenes) in the Superposition benchmark, 1080p EXTREME setting, at 44°C Max (it doesn't go higher, even after a few hours gaming).

    Now i'm looking to flash the Liquid Bios to it and see if I can lock it at 1750MHz stable :)

    edit : at 1160mV for the GPU, Benchmarks would lock the PC. at 1175mV, the clocks boosted lower. Most definately a power consumption wall).
    Also, anything over 5% GPU overclock locked the PC, no matter whether everything else was at stock, and you can't increase the voltage above 1.2V anyway it seems...

    After all this time i finally ditched CrossFire today in favor for Vega 64.

    I must say that if you undervolt the card, the noise and heat aren't that bad. I couldn't have imagined that i would like the reference air cooled card this much. I was thinking about the morpheus 2 or water cooling, but i think that's off the table for now.

    EK block helps VRM/memory temps(gpu core only by 1-2c or so provided you install good thermal pads) by 5-10c

    The back of my card has two 120mm fans blowing at 12V on it from the CPU Radiator. and two other 12V fans on the other side. and four twinned out the front at 12V. The backplate, as it is from stock, was hindering the cooling. ;)
    There were no thermal pads, and the airflow should be fine.

    edit : Backplate as in the plate on the rear, or back, of the card. ;)

    Not sure what these scores are worth, but its at the max overclock i can get without flashing to Liquid bios.

    Yep I know what a backplate is lol.
    Anyways a good designed backplate can reduce temps as I said.

    Those plastic backplates or ones with no pads don't help

    I wasn't sure, sorry ;)

    The original backplate is metal, I was surprised by that. i was expecting plastic. It has cutouts on the inside for the components, and I suspect that with some Thermal pads, it would work a treat.

    I fear that there is the possibility that the parts that are not connected to the backplate with thermal pads would get hotter, than without a backplate.
    I have no need for the backplate anyway, as I have plenty of airflow over the back of the card ;)

    Thats why you put pads on where it counts, behind vrm, ram, gpu core, etc

    I flashed my 56 with the 64 bios yesterday, couldn't resist. ;)

    Can easily match my best 56 firestrike score, without the thing getting so hot. Well happy.

    I've looked at nearly all of Hilberts thermal images of Video cards, and I have yet to find one with the backplate that seems to be actually dissipating heat.
    If it was, it would be warm, and lit up, but the temps behind it are insane.

    Maybe on the open test bed its not getting any airflow on the backplate, I don't know.
    It just looks like it isn't doing the job, and would be better without.

    i beleive that a constant airflow over a bare card is better than cooling certain parts down, and heat-trapping the rest.

    Good job :)
    I'm going to flash the liquid BIOS to my Vega64 friday after work, and pray I don't bork the card.
    Did you use the 2.77 (i think) ATiFlash tool ? in DOS ? or Windows ?
