29 Cores? is a prime number. How did they get out with this configuration? looks like something is disabled on die here. i do not belive is a deisgn with 29 cores and not an 8x4 with something disabled....

    28 cores!

I remember the times when people used to build Xeon rigs and game on them, guess this would not be too good of an idea now. :D

Have to disable HT to gain extra performance, but works well. Can do >144fps minimum in Overwatch.

Ashes of Singularity: Escalation CPU benchmark DX12 = 40fps.

    Ryzen 7 @ 4Ghz = 42.9fps

Intel 8 core is around 53fps.

It was never a good idea despite what people say. Their desktop i7 counterparts are much better gaming CPU's.

1366 Xeon users would highly disagree.

My x5650@4.5ghz was on par with a stock 5930k.

    And my x5550 @ 4.1 beat my i7 950 @ 4.1.

    And i have a x3440 @ 3.65ghz on stock voltage. I7 860 can't do that and runs a lot hotter too.

Newer Xeon dont have the value for gaming they used to since Intel removed oc abiltiy.

    I have a dual x5550 server. 8 cores 16 threads and even @ 3ghz turbo, 1 cup handles BF1 without being 100%.
And BF1 even uses all 16 threads. Not 100% even usage but it uses them. Its on par with my 3930k @ 4.1

It's the high core count Xeons that do better than what most people would expect.

    Here's my previous system. 5960X @ 4.6Ghz, RAM @ 2400Mhz (bought at 2014 October)

    Score
30 259 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980(3x) and Intel Core i7-5960X

    Graphics Score 44 839

    Physics Score 21 709

    Combined Score 10 625

    Here's my current system

    22 725 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti(1x) and Genuine Intel(R) CPU 0000 @ 2.20GHz
    Graphics Score 29 292
    Physics Score 20 789
    Combined Score 8 941

When I had 1070 SLI, CPU was at 2.6Ghz but didn't have power savings disabled.

    SCORE
    23 665 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070(2x) and Genuine Intel(R) CPU 0000 @ 2.20GHz
    Graphics Score 31 094
    Physics Score 20 948
    Combined Score 9 112

Of course that's all synthetic, but those don't even use all the CPU, not even close.

Point being, if one buys a V3, uses the turbo hack, they could have an 18 core at 3.8Ghz ALL CORES - http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Intel-Xeon-E...513368?hash=item5d6dc3e598:g:NeAAAOSwB-1Y3jLw

    RIP every other processor.

it's for pro... price doesn't matter too much here (my actual system at work cost more than my Jaguar).

Ryzen is for gaming and home use... and for now Naple compared to Xeon sadly doesn't look as interesting the Ryzen is compared to Intel counterpart...
We will see (hope it not end as G34 lol).

it depend if your boss pay your system you still have lot of powerfull cores :)
and the X still exist (lot more money :) )

On other hand i have lot of fun on a G3258 / B85 / RX460 connected to TV set...

depend on what you need and/or wallet :)

    *points at specs*

Xeons from the x58 era are still competitive gaming processors.
