Sad day for me and other Hockey fans.I am amazed that one of the premiere winter Olympic sports are not going to feature some of the best Hockey players in the world.
^ IIHF, IOC and NHL couldn't agree on who covers the insurance costs etc. for players. Sucks big time...
The IOC are being dicks and the NHL owners didn't want to risk talent getting injured when they wouldn't even cover insurance and wanted them to cover everything.So why would they risk it when it was costing them a lot of money.Don't blame them.
I think there is no need for the amount required for NHL players because of the huge salaries. Betman was saying it basically cost the league in between salaries and revenue a billion dollars. The fact the league can't even mention their association with the Olympics they don't even get any advertising out of it.
I remember when a bunch of kids beat the red army, and it is legendary now, I was there. I have played hockey my whole life, it was never supposed to be pro players, I like it. Let the kids play.
The problem was while the "kids "beat the Red Army the fact remains they were playing pro players and that result more often than not wasn't going to be repeated. I think at least it was a more honest way of doing it allowing Pro's to play.
