In case you forgot what you were talking about here you go:

So last I checked 7-zip and Cinebench are not games.

Also the 8370 was like $30 cheaper than the 4670K at the time. not a huge difference in money, but the z97 chipset offered much more than 990FX did.

You did keep it for 6 years and so do I.
In that case it doesn't really matter, in 3 years time you'll be buying whatever 8 core CPU Intel puts out by then.

    My bad, here you go:

Ok man, you win: 7700k is the fastest CPU today for gaming, like 2600k was back in the day.

Hi, I've got my fx 8320 about 4 years, and now i'm getting the bennefits of a 8 cores cpu (many of you will whine, and say "IT'S NOT A 8 CORE CPU, shut up and suck it, it is what it is) may not be the GREASTEST cpu but still, played bf1 with no problems, do rendering videos very fast and neat. reallty, Intel stood the last 4 years selling the same cpu and the Fanboys still pay for them like if they were the newest cpu on the market. RYZEN has come and is a promessing cpu for the future, AMD is an affordable option for PC gaming...

You do realise that the cheapest Ryzen costs the same as the most expensive mainstream i7 (7700k)? If that's affordable, so are the Intel mainstream cpus.

You do realise R7 is meant to compete with 6900k and not 7700k don't you?
7700k can't beat 6900k on those workloads but R7 can.
Please: take the gaming crown and shush.

Maybe you should read exactly what I was replying to. I even made it bold so you shouldn't really struggle to see what the topic was. Hint in case you're illiterate, he was talking about gaming.

One second, I'll screenshot it and put it right in front of you so you get a grasp of things.

EDIT: Here it is. Do me a favour, next time before you reply, try to keep up.

I dont see me upgrading from my i7 for another 3-5 years. Plus it depends on what games you are playing and what else you are using your PC for. Plus it will take games a good while longer for games to use more than 4 cores with the exception of a few games like I said to you before.

    Have a good night people.

The only reason I went for the 7700k from the 2500k was that there was a few specific games that I played that run much better on the 7700k. These are race sims, Black Desert Online and big online games in general, where the cpu gets a workout compared to most other games. In these games, the 7700k is easily the fastest cpu. In everything else it's exactly as good as the 7600k.

That was funny. Even ryzen fanatics will not likely keep theirs that long.

With me there is only a handful of new games that I play that require a lot of horse power.

They'll have to buy one first lol, before they keep it for 6 years. It seems to me that a lot of these guys are just a bit shouty because they hate Intel because they can't afford it so they bash it but end up sitting on their old cpus instead of actually buying a Ryzen.

I might use a ryzen for 6 years. I used my Athlon 64 X2 5200 for 6 years. I still have it and it still works but I don't use it anymore. Heck, I've still got two PII-450mhz. I'm not sure if they work anymore but they did the last time I tested them a few years ago. I need to find a computer recycling center.

I'll wait another year. I'm interested in seeing what the R3s and APUs are like. I want to start with a cheap cpu/apu and later upgrade to a R7.

That's what I should have done with my last upgrade, started with a G3258 and by now I would have bought an i7. I made a mistake but the price of my last upgrade was low, so it didn't matter much.

I'm glad my wants and needs aren't as great as most of yours. I'd love to have the nice equipment many of you have but my wallet wouldn't.

3 years should be good enough for 7700k. About average upgrade cycle. Ryzen 2 should be more interesting proposition then. Personally I may have gone ryzen if it was just a wee bit more mature. The performance factor was not an issue for me, but the maturity of the platform as a whole.
