Is that capped to 60fps or uncapped? Either way that's really good. Do you have TW3? It's the game that pushes my gpu temps hardest. Some games my 1080 doesn't even hit 50C lol. If you have TW3, could you test the game uncapped and report with temps? I'd appreciate that.

I see... I'll try The Division later to check how my card fares with 60fps cap. I'm thinking it'll drop below 60C because it's capable well over 80fps with most things maxed at 1440p so running 60fps should allow for lower temps. Will report back when I'm home from work, 15 hour day bois! I'll also test Twitcher 3 with 60fps cap.

If you don't have hairworks maxed (but at medium) you will be able to ultra everything else no problem with a 1080 @1440p v-synced, if I can do it with a 1070 (well, granted, for me hairworks are on low and also the grass is not maxed iirc :p).

So I just tried TW3 and The Division with a 60fps cap at 1440p, both maxed (HW on everthing with 2x HW AA) and in The Division all maxed, including the fancy Nvidia shadows and HBAO+ etc.

In TW3 the card peaked at 51C, around 78% gpu load. Weirdly, in The Division, the gpu load stayed below 70% but it ran hotter, peaked at 55C for me.

All in all just wow, superb results imo.

Yeah, similar results in pretty much everything I play. I have to say this round goes to Palit. They simply have the best GTX 1080. Warranty sucks, but the card is fantastic.

    oh ?

will it keep the ratio same? and no blurs too?

playing Nier game at max without aa i get 30-40fps

How high can you clock the memory?
Ive read people doing +500 and Even more.
    I cant go beyond +300 mh Z.

have you tried turning the voltage up ,its needed for gddr5x overclocking i bet it will allow you to push over 300mhz

I get driver not responding when gaming bf1 and bf4.
    I have tried full voltage.

Been looking at this Gigabyte AORUS GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Xtreme Edition 11GB Video Card on NewEgg but never had a Gigabyte card - any opinions?

I'm getting an MSI 1080 Gaming tomorrow afternoon. I'm not going to read through 93 pages in this thread, but are there any important things I should know? Hardware tricks or tweaks? Software tricks or tweaks? OC advice and your experience with this Pascal chip, since I'm coming from an EVGA 980Ti that wouldn't even clock to 1400MHz core without maxing out the voltage and blasting the fans.

Thanks! I understand all of that except the "then you want to go to the graph and give each voltage point a specific clock." Is that somewhere in MSIAB? So far my card (Gaming nonX model) lets me add +100 to the core voltage and 121% for the power limit. The core tops out at 1860MHz and the RAM is at 5006MHz. Temps topped out at 70C with the default MSI fan curve after an hour of Heaven. I'm going to start trying out some OC and mess with the fan to keep it cooler.

To be honest, you shouldn't need to touch the vcore voltage at all to hit 2000mhz on core. I'd aim for 2000/11000 for core/vram.

70C is on the high side, I'd try to keep it lower. Mess with a custom fan curve and find the sweet spot for cooling/noise levels.

    Good luck.

I found the voltage/clock graph. It is a tiny icon next to the Core Clock item in MSIAB. So far I've got the core speed locked at 2050 while gaming with the memory at 10800 effective. With custom fan settings, it is still silent and tops out at 63C so far. I've run heaven maxed out, PCARS at 4k/ultra with 55 cars at night in a storm, Titan Quest at 8k with max settings, Civ VI at 4k with max settings, all without a hitch or single problem so far.

This card is WAY faster than my 980Ti@1400/7800! I was moving from 980Ti to a 1080 for the silence, longer support and better DX12 but the performance increases are huge in my case. PCARS at 4k/ultra even with a dozen cars on a dry flat track was a pipe dream with my 980Ti, but now goes like butter. I'm off to test some more games and see if this preliminary OC is stable. Thanks for the help and guidance so far!

Just as an update, and to possible future owners of a 1080, here is what my OC adventures ended with. My clocks up above ended up being unstable in Civ VI, GTA5 and Witcher 3. It ended up being unstable because of the voltage only ever maxing out at 1.081v. Using the MSIAB voltage/frequency curve editor I have the card using 1.093v while gaming and that lets me clock it up to 2075Core/11000Mem with perfect stability so far. With a custom fan curve the card is still quieter than any other fan in my system and stays around 68C while under 100% unlimited FPS gaming load in the previously mentioned games. Thanks for the help! Loving this card!

I just got my 1080 yesterday and hooked it in my loop straight away. The card is EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 SC Gaming ACX 3.0. The EK Thermosphere block covers only the GPU core so should I arrange some kind of a fan config on top of the passive VRM cooling plate which covers the whole card like this?

I really don't care for those thin plates and only GPU block.

If i were you, i would try to get some fujipoly 11 w/mk thermal pads(stock junk is like 1-3 w/mk)

Maybe you could zip tie a 92mm fan on the end, ie noctua redux or flx

Anyways, does that GPU have all the extra temp sensors?

^The card in that picture isn't the same card as mine but that plate at least gives a picture of what I'm talking about.
I just know that the card is of the more recent revision with the updated bios thus it doesn't suffer from the VRM cooling issues which the older ones had. But no this isn't the iCX version if that's what you mean.
