Hey guys, any of you are running same setup and could me if they have low gpu usage with GTX 1080 SLI and a Gsync monitor. When i use Gsync i get about 70-95% GPU usage and as soon as i turn it off both cards go to 90+% I think pascal cards have an issue with Gsync in general. Kinda sucks.
I've never thought to turn G-Sync off, but I hover between 70-90% usage on my cards. I sometimes wonder if my 3960x is holding them back since it's pretty old and there have been fairly substantial IPC improvements since the SB-E generation. FWIW I'm using the XB270HU @ 1440p/165hz.
Unfortunately, that's incorrect. Models with newer firmware have the ability to OC the panel to 165hz in the OSD.
Are you sure it isn't just because the cards are doing less work. Remember by default GSYNC defaults to VSYNC ON at max refresh - try turning VSYNC OFF and see if you still get this issue
Did some test today. No vsync ( disabled in driver ) but frames are capped at 120 using RTSS Gsync on, 64 player conquest. Very high cpu usage and around 90 - 94 fps, 60% ish gpu load. Gsync off, 64 player conquest ( rejoined on friend into same server ) Same cpu usage but both cards at 85%+ usage and a solid 120fps. All settings maxed, 1440p HOLY **** its a huge difference. Only seems to be in BF1 though which is odd.
Yes there is a problem with Gsync. The only way to increase gpu usage is to increase resolution scale which will result in lower fps overall. It's a Lose-Lose situation with SLI Gsync ON and BF1. With GSYNC off your fps will increase for sure. It has to be a bug.
I have a Gsync monitor. with a couple of 980 TI's Gsync enabled. Vsync ON in NVCP. Vsync OFF in all games. works like a charm. The low usage however, which i experienced in BF1 aswell was caused by the Geforce experience overlay. By turning that off i got nearly perfect SLI scaling. And man. What a difference in general. ON : OFF :
I had no problem with GSYNC and my 980Ti SLI back then. It is a pascal issue nothing to do with maxell.
Pascal issues with g-sync are well known by now, there's a long thread over at official nvidia forums: https://forums.geforce.com/default/...080-sli-low-gpu-usage-while-g-sync-enabled/6/ It's never been resolved, even now.
