You are devil, but thanks . I hope you're right. Maybe they are working to reduce CPU overhead... blah, this would be too good to become true.

They have done this in 2015, really.

Since DX12/Vulkan I doubt that's a priority for them now, but it would be great.

    I sure hope so.

One thing to keep in mind with DX12 and Vulkan is that it's not as common in the MMORPG market. Alot of these games use ancient engines, even of games that are still in active development today. That market also tends to target low end and ancient machines.

I know that we all wish modern API's would take off, especially Vulkan to push some Linux gaming finally.. But, realistically it only feels like it'll be happening on the FPS and RTS front.

There aren't that many, so per-profile optimization would work best for them, is my guess. I'm not sure that AMD can do a ton about how old DX9/DX11 games do submission.

Unless they pull an NVIDIA and somehow dramatically drop overhead in general, although I feel it's more of a hardware than a software issue at this point.

Case in point: 2.4.3 of Diablo 3 is the first x64 build of the game's executable. Speaking of ancient engines still being developed... :)

btw. 16.11.3 seems to be unstable with the BF1 patch. Also 16.11.3 doesn't seem to have the extended DXCache max. size. I reverted back to 16.11.2 which seems to be better overall.
