There may be a bug, but it's not for everyone. I have no issues with tearing on any of my titles with Gsync on and Vsync off in the CP

Guess it's just you and me with this problem Agent-A01...I've had this problem forever so maybe I need to reinstall OS or something.

By the way, it's happened on rare occasions that I've also had to enable V-sync in game, otherwise I would get tearing.

    Or you aren't noticing it.

In many games at 144h/165hz tearing is hard to see.
It's more prevalent on the very bottom of the screen.

    Nope, happens to many people.
Been an issue for a while.

Could be related to GSYNC firmware or something as it doesn't seem to be monitor specific.

I'd easily spot tearing and I experience none whatsoever.
Perhaps it is a monitor/firmware specific problem.
Either ways, Gsync is working as intended for me.

enable Gsync and Vsync in control panel
and then cap frames to ex. 140.
    works very well

I'm sure "capping the framerate" isn't exactly in the instruction manual for G-sync -.- My point is that tweaks of that kind should not be necessary to get a simple function running.

You have to cap it regardless, even before it was *bugged*.

Before, VSYNC was enabled by default and capped the FPS to refresh rate.
If you had GSYNC on there was no VSYNC option in the drivers.

In this case, GSYNC isn't actually working if you are sitting right at the refresh rate, VSYNC is taking over.

People made comment of the FPS cap so they added VSYNC option into the drivers under GSYNC mode to turn off FPS cap.

If FPS > refresh rate, GSYNC goes off.
But for whatever reason(most likely a bug), turning off VSYNC causes tearing even under the refresh rate under GSYNC mode.

They've mentioned a fix coming for it, but I've not heard of when.

So let me get this straight - you have G-sync enabled, V-sync disabled and FPS cap to 144?

I have G-sync and V-sync enabled and I never go above 144fps. Sorry if I'm slow today :)

No, VSYNC enabled with fps cap set to 140~fps.

You enable vsync now because if it's not on, tearing happens even below max refresh rate.

With VSYNC enabled without FPS cap, VSYNC will cap it to refresh rate.

The problem with this, GSYNC will be off and VSYNC will be on which means much higher input lag.

You put a fps cap below refresh rate to ensure vsync does not enable itself.

Ok, now I understand. And this V-sync on by itself thing only happens at exactly 144fps?

    Correct.

Proven by having the same input lag as non gsync with vsync on at blurbusters.

I'll try this and see if I notice any difference. Mind you, I don't play any 144fps games right now though. Forza 3 (capped to 60), WoW (the FPS fluctuates way too much), Shadow Warrior 2 (144 unobtainable), CoD:BO3 (it's mostly around 100+) :)
