Unfortunately that'll be only for a while, until you do the particular sequence that causes it on your system and UVD clocks get stuck again, as having 3D accel on browser and then launching other stuff, etc.

If find some time, please fill a report to AMD when it happens again, as me and other Tahiti and Pitcairn users that are affected by this problem for a while have been doing to get their attention about this. Thanks.

After reading your post, I've just made them get stuck by the procedure that never fails me (put Chrome in UVD clocks, launch/play MPC-HC, close both) on a 7870 in one try. So at last on this setup, unfortunately it doesn't seem like.

Must be something at your end, AlleyViper. I haven't had the idle clock bug for the last 5 or 6 releases.

I have it on two separate PCs (Tahiti+790FX/Pitcairn+890GX), and also a friend on a 280x+P55 can trigger it in the exact way as I do in W10 AU. IIRC, it only started to happen or at least I've only noticed after that Windows build upgrade. In this thread @passenger has an HD7870 DCII V2 exactly like mine (model/bios) and reported the same with browser + video.
What's interestingly common in all these 4 cards, is that they are Asus custom PCB models.

Edit: Forgot to report a nice thing about these 16.10.1 since day one. On Assetto Corsa's bench, it went from 95 to 100fps consistently under same settings on the HD7870.

He's not crazy, it still happens to me here too. I had Fallout 4 alt-tabbed, and Edge open with a video in the background. When I quit Fallout 4 (and Edge), the clock was 500/1500 until I restarted the driver or the system.

What I find weird is that I've used a multimonitor setup and when I got my card it would idle down to 300/150. Recently it will now only do 300/1500 unless I disable one monitor.

    Feh.

I guess that's on purpose, because the memory speed by default is considered too slow for a multimonitor setup.

Could you provide the link? I fear the ones in guru and AMD are outdated.

My bad, idle clocks work well until I watch something online, then they get stuck at 500/1500 until driver/computer restart. Also, maximum gpu clock becomes 1000 instead of 1100(Gigabyte 280x wf oc) until reset.
The only workaround I found is to restart the driver, using Restart.exe from CRU(Custom Resolution Utility) everytime I notice the wrong clocks.
Driver is still BROKEN for Tahiti/Pitcairn, as AlleyViper said.
    Submited report , AGAIN...:3eyes:
